This document is an owner's manual for an LG fully automatic washing machine, covering models F1480QDS(1~9), F1280QDS(1~9), and F1080QDS(1~9). It provides comprehensive instructions for installation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Function Description
The LG washing machine is designed to provide efficient and thorough cleaning of laundry with several advanced features. It utilizes an Intelligent Wash System that detects the size of the load and water temperature, optimizing water level and washing time to minimize energy and water consumption. The Built-in heater automatically heats the water to the best temperature for selected cycles, ensuring effective cleaning. For enhanced garment care, the machine incorporates Protection against creases through alternating drum rotation, which minimizes creasing.
A key innovation is the Inverter Direct Drive System, featuring an advanced Brushless DC motor that directly drives the drum without a belt or pulley, contributing to quieter operation and increased durability. The machine also boasts 6 motion technology, capable of performing various drum actions or a combination of different actions depending on the wash program selected. This, combined with controlled spin speed and the ability of the drum to rotate both left and right, significantly improves washing performance.
For user convenience and safety, the washing machine includes a Child Lock function to prevent children from pressing buttons and changing settings during operation. It also features a Low noise speed control system that senses the amount of load and balance, distributing the load evenly to minimize spinning noise.

Maintenance Features
The manual provides detailed instructions for maintaining the washing machine to ensure its longevity and optimal performance:
Filter Cleaning:
- Water Inlet Filter: Regularly check and clean the water inlet filter to prevent blockages caused by hard water deposits or debris. Instructions include turning off the water tap, unscrewing the hose, cleaning the filter with a brush, and re-tightening.
- Drain Pump Filter: This filter collects threads, lint, and small foreign objects. It should be checked and cleaned regularly. The process involves opening the cover cap, pulling out the hose to drain water, unscrewing the filter, removing foreign matter, and reassembling.
Dispenser Drawer Cleaning:
- The dispenser drawer can accumulate detergent and fabric softener residues. It should be pulled out, cleaned under running water, and the recess cleaned with an old toothbrush.
Washing Drum Cleaning:
- Regular cleaning of the washing drum is recommended to prevent limescale buildup and rust specks from small metal articles. Descaling agents, dyes, or bleaches should be suitable for washing machines. Spots can be removed with a stainless steel cleaning agent, but steel wool should not be used.
- For thorough cleaning, a mixture of chlorine bleach and detergent can be run through a hot water wash cycle.
Exterior Cleaning:
- The machine's exterior can be cleaned with warm water and a neutral, non-abrasive household detergent. Spills should be wiped immediately with a damp cloth. Avoid sharp objects, methylated spirits, or similar products.
Interior Cleaning:
- The washer door opening, flexible gasket, and door glass should be dried. Running a complete cycle with hot water is recommended, and the process can be repeated if necessary.
Cold Conditions:
- Special instructions are provided for storing the washer in freezing temperatures to prevent damage. This includes turning off the water supply, disconnecting hoses, adding non-toxic RV antifreeze to the drum, running a spin cycle, unplugging the power cord, drying the drum and dispenser drawer, and storing upright. Before reuse, an empty wash cycle with detergent should be run to remove antifreeze.
