This document is a Use and Care manual for the LG Condensing Dryer, covering models TD-C700E, TD-C70040E, TD-C70042E, TD-C70043E, TD-C70045E, TD-C70046E, and TD-C70047E. It provides comprehensive instructions for safe operation, installation, usage, and maintenance of the appliance.
The LG Condensing Dryer is designed for efficient and convenient laundry drying. It boasts an ultra-big capacity drum, capable of handling up to 7.0kg of laundry, making it suitable for larger loads. The dryer incorporates advanced technologies for lower energy consumption, utilizing Sirocco and Radial fans to optimize efficiency. This design also contributes to reduced drying times through an efficient airflow mechanism and an optimized heater. For a quieter operation, the dryer features innovative noise performance, achieved through noise-absorption and screening technology. Ease of use is enhanced by a wide LED display and electric controls.
Before using the dryer for the first time, it is crucial to ensure proper installation and check for any damage. The dryer should be placed on a solid and level surface, away from dripping water, freezing temperatures, or flammable materials. Proper leveling is essential to prevent undesirable noise and vibration, and the adjustable feet can be used to achieve this. The manual emphasizes checking the lint filter, water container, and condenser for cleanliness. It is recommended to run the dryer for 5 minutes initially to warm the drum and to leave the door open and power unplugged after the first few operations to dissipate any potential odors.
Operating the dryer involves a straightforward process:
- Power On: Press the "Power" button to illuminate the indicator light, signifying the machine is ready.
- Open Door: Access the drum to load laundry.
- Check Filters and Container: Ensure the lint filter is clean and the water container and condenser are empty for optimal drying performance.
- Load Laundry: Sort clothes by fabric type and desired dryness level. Tie all strings and belts, and push laundry to the back of the drum to prevent damage to the door seal.
- Close Door: Confirm that no foreign objects or flammable items are caught around the door.
- Select Drying Cycle: Turn the program control knob to choose the desired cycle. Options include Mixed-Fabric cycles (Very Dry, Standard, Iron Dry) and Cotton cycles (Extra Dry, Very Dry, Standard, Light Dry, Iron Dry, Machine Iron). Time Cycles (Warm 20min., Warm 40min., Cool Air 20min., Cool Air 40min., Rack Dry) are available for specific drying durations or items. Special Fabrics programs like Wool and Delicates are also provided for sensitive items.
- Start Drying: Press the "Start" button to begin the cycle.
- Unload Laundry: After the cycle completes, open the door and carefully remove the laundry, as the drum may still be hot.
- Clean Filters and Empty Water Container: This step is crucial after every load to maintain efficiency and prevent improper drying.
- Turn Off Dryer: Press the "Power" button.
The dryer offers several additional functions to enhance user experience:
- High Temp. / Low Temp.: Adjusts the cycle time by increasing or decreasing the temperature, useful for different fabric types.
- Buzzer Off: Toggles the sound alerts on or off.
- Anti-Crease: Prevents creases and rumples by intermittently running and pausing the drum at the end of the drying cycle. This function is remembered even if the door is opened during normal operation without selecting Anti-Crease.
- Favourite: Allows users to store and recall a preferred drying cycle setting.
- Time Delay: Delays the start of the drying cycle for up to 19 hours.
- Child Lock: Activates a safety feature by pressing the High Temp. and Low Temp. buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds, indicated by "CL" on the LED display.
For specific items, the Rack Dry function is available (for models TD-C700E/40E/45E). This feature is designed for items that should not be tumble-dried, such as sweaters and delicate fabrics. To use Rack Dry:
- Open the door.
- Do not remove the lint screen.
- Place the dryer rack over the bottom of the door opening, securing it on the back lodge and pushing down the frame front over the lint screen.
- Place wet items on top of the rack, ensuring space for air circulation. The drum rotates, but the rack remains stationary.
- Close the door.
- Select "Rack Dry" from the program selector.
Maintenance is key to prolonging the dryer's life and ensuring optimal performance.
- Clean Lint Filter: The lint filter should be cleaned after each use and checked before each use. The "Clean Filter" light and buzzer will alert users when cleaning is needed during operation. Cleaning can be done with a vacuum cleaner or by rinsing under a tap.
- Empty Water Container: The condensed water collected in the container must be emptied after every use. A "Empty Water" lamp and buzzer will indicate when the container is full, requiring emptying within 1 hour.
- Clean Condenser: The condenser is vital for efficient drying and should be cleaned three or four times a year. This involves opening the condensing cover, turning a locking lever to open the sealing cover, releasing two locking levers, drawing out the condenser, and rinsing it thoroughly under a tap. Reassembly is done in reverse order.
- Clean Front Ventilation Grille: Vacuum the front ventilation grille 3-4 times a year to prevent lint and dirt buildup, which can obstruct airflow.
- Clean Moisture Sensor: The moisture sensor, located inside the drum, should be wiped regularly to remove lime scale buildup, ensuring accurate moisture detection.
- Condensate Drain-out: The dryer can be configured to drain water directly via a drain hose, especially when stacked on a washing machine. This involves unscrewing a cover, taking out a connecting kit, separating the water container hose, and connecting the drain hose to the kit.
- Reverse the Door: The door hinge can be reversed to suit installation conditions. This process requires careful handling of sharp tools and involves detaching hinge point covers, unscrewing hinges, removing and replacing the door lock, and screwing the hinges back in the new position. The hand sticker on the door must also be replaced.
- Change the Bulb: The drum bulb can be replaced by opening the door, grasping the bulb cover, turning the bulb clockwise to remove it, separating the cover from its housing, and then screwing in the new bulb in reverse.
The manual also provides troubleshooting tips for common issues such as the dryer not working, long drying times, "Clean Filter" lamp flashing, drum light not working, lint on clothes, inconsistent drying times, water leaking, wrinkled clothes, and shrunk clothes. Error codes like "dE" (door open) and "EHE" (high temperature/humidity) are explained, with instructions for resolution.
The LG Condensing Dryer is designed to be a reliable and user-friendly appliance, with clear instructions for installation, operation, and maintenance to ensure long-lasting performance.
