Cable Precautions
To attach: Align the red dots and press. Do not hang the instru-
ment from the cable.
Avoid sharp bends in the cable.
To release: Grasp the collar and pull.
Do not pull directly on the cable.
Do not drop onto the cable connections.
View Caps Sky Conditions
Always use the same view cap for associated
above- and below-canopy readings. Use the view-
restricting caps:
l To block the sun from the sensor's view.
l To block the operator from the sensor's view.
l When cloud cover is non-uniform.
l When there are gaps or clumps in the canopy.
l To reduce the required plot size.
l To make above-canopy measurements in a
small forest clearing.
Overcast Conditions
Sunrise or Sunset
l Optimum sky conditions are uniform overcast
or immediately before sunrise or after sunset.
l Clear, partly cloudy, or other sky conditions
are suitable with proper sampling technique.
l The worst sky conditions are under direct sun-
light. Refer to the LAI-2200 Instruction Manual
for more details.
