Overview

This document is an owner's manual for an Evaporative Air Cooler, model BLF-T05, manufactured by Lifeplus. The manual provides comprehensive information on the device's operation, maintenance, and safety.

The Evaporative Air Cooler functions by drawing in hot air, passing it through a moist wet curtain, where the heat is absorbed by evaporating water, and then blowing out the cooled air. Unevaporated water circulates back into the water tank. This process effectively lowers the ambient temperature. For optimal performance and smooth air circulation, the manual recommends placing the unit in front of ventilation corridors and opening windows and doors when in use.

Important Technical Specifications (Model BLF-T05):

  • Rated Voltage: 120V / 60Hz
  • Power: 80W
  • Water Tank Capacity: 3.5L
  • Product Size: 10.4 x 10 x 26.7 inches

Usage Features:

The air cooler can be operated via a control panel on the unit or a remote control. The remote control uses a CR2025 (3V) button cell battery, and users are instructed to remove an insulating film before first use. All functions available on the control panel are also accessible via the remote control.

Control Panel and Remote Control Functions:

  • ON/OFF: Powers the air cooler on or off.
  • SPEED: Adjusts the wind speed to Small, Middle, or High settings.
  • SWING: Controls the left-right oscillation of the air outlet. Pressing it once activates the swing, and pressing it again stops it.
  • TIMER: Sets an operating timer with a range of 1 to 7 hours.
  • COOLING: Activates or deactivates the cooling system. Users are cautioned not to open the cooling system when the water tank is empty.
  • MODE: Changes the wind type to Natural, Sleeping, or Normal Mode.

Water Filling:

The manual describes two methods for filling the water tank:

  1. Pulling out the tank from the back of the machine and filling it to the highest water level.
  2. Opening the top cover plate and slowly filling with clean water. Users are warned not to exceed the maximum water level.

Ice Box Usage:

The device includes three ice boxes to enhance cooling. The instructions for using the ice boxes are as follows:

  1. For first-time use, open the lid, inject water up to the indicated scale, and then tighten the lid.
  2. Allow 30-40 minutes for the water and ice crystal mix to completely combine.
  3. Place the ice box in the refrigerator's freezer compartment for two hours.
  4. Remove the ice box and place it into the air cooler's ice container to further cool the water temperature.
  5. After prolonged use, if the ice crystal turns to jelly, it can be refrozen and reused.

Emptying the Water Tank:

The drain outlet is located at the bottom of the unit. To empty the tank, users should loosen the drain nut and tilt the machine body. Regular draining and cleaning are recommended, especially if the machine will not be used for an extended period.

Maintenance Features:

Regular cleaning and maintenance are crucial for optimal performance and air purification, as dust accumulation on pre-filters and the wet curtain can affect airflow.

Cleaning Instructions:

  • Pre-filter: Turn off the power, loosen screws, pull out the pre-filter, and clean it with a soft brush and mild detergent. Rinse with water and dry under direct sunlight.
  • Wet Curtain: Turn off the power, loosen screws on the back-cover plate, and remove it. Loosen the plastic nuts on the wet curtain, remove the wet pad, and clean it with a soft brush and mild detergent. Rinse with water and dry under direct sunlight before reinstallation. If dirt is difficult to remove after long-term use, the wet curtain should be replaced.
  • Surface: Turn off the power and clean the machine's surface with a mild detergent and soft cloth. Avoid getting water on the control panel.

Troubleshooting (Fault and Maintenance):

The manual includes a troubleshooting guide for common issues:

  • No wind or wind speed is too slow:
    • Possible causes: Stuck fan blades, blocked filter, unfixed fan blade, or main control panel error.
    • Solutions: Check/clean/replace fan blade, clean/replace filter, or replace main control panel.
  • Motor is out of control:
    • Possible causes: Broken main control panel button or disconnected wiring of the motor and control panel.
    • Solutions: Replace main control panel or replace the wire connecting the motor and control panel.
  • Drain valve is leaking:
    • Possible causes: Broken drain valve or dropped rubber band.
    • Solutions: Replace the drain valve or add a new rubber band.
  • Water pump doesn't work:
    • Possible causes: Water-pipe blockage, long-term operation without water cooling (damaging the pump), or poor water quality causing scale to stick the central shaft.
    • Solutions: Clean the pipe with a small brush, replace the water pump if damaged, or remove the shaft, clean dirt, add lubricating oil, and debug the shaft.

Storage:

When not in use, the air cooler should be stored in a cool, dry location. To prevent dust and dirt buildup, it is recommended to repack the unit using its original packaging.

Safety Instructions:

The manual emphasizes several safety precautions:

  • The appliance is not intended for use by persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless supervised or instructed by a responsible person.
  • Children should be supervised to ensure they do not play with the appliance.
  • Before any maintenance, ensure the machine is in the "off" state and the power is switched off to avoid electric shock. Connect the grounding socket correctly and ensure the grounding device has automatic fault protection.
  • If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent, or similarly qualified persons to avoid a hazard.
  • Ensure the fan is switched off from the supply mains before removing the guard.
  • Unplug the appliance during filling and cleaning.
  • Do not use corrosive or solvent detergents for cleaning. Use a wet cloth to wipe the machine instead of flushing it.
  • Avoid exposing the machine to direct sunlight.
  • Strictly prohibited to use this machine in circumstances with inflammable or explosive gas.
