Cables fit between LEGO studs. Lay them comfortably, do not force.
Insert connectors one way, aligning with '=' symbol. Do not force.
Insert connectors one way, wires exposed down. Do not force.
Insert micro connectors one way, wires exposed down. Use fingernail to push.
Place bit lights correctly way up (yellow exposed), on or between studs.

Check battery orientation (+ symbol down) for flat CR2032 pack.
Check battery orientation (+ symbol up) for round CR2032 pack.

Connectors fit one way. Forcing damages pins, causing short circuits.
