First, check if the gun cable is kinked or twisted; if so, keep it as straight as possible, avoiding sharp corners or bends. Another possibility is that the wire is jammed in the gun and cable, so remove the gun from the wire feeder and pull the jammed wire out. Also, a dirty or worn gun liner can cause this issue; try blowing dirt out of the liner with low pressure (40psi or less), and replace it if it's worn. Finally, a rusty or dirty electrode may be the culprit, so replace the contact tip.

  If the motor runs at maximum wire feed speed and there is no change when adjusting the wire feed speed knob on your Lincoln Electric Wire Feeders, it could be due to an improperly connected tachometer.   If you're experiencing a variable or "hunting" arc with your Lincoln Electric Wire Feeders, it could be due to a wrong size, worn, or melted contact tip. Try replacing the contact tip. It could also be due to a worn work cable or poor work connection. Verify all work and electrode connections are tight and that the cables are in good condition, cleaning or replacing them as necessary. Also, ensure the gas nozzle isn't extended beyond the contact tip, and shorten the wire stickout to ½ to ¾ inches.

Why is there no shielding gas from my Lincoln Electric Wire Feeders?

  If you're not getting any shielding gas with your Lincoln Electric Wire Feeders, it might be because the gas supply is off or empty. Route the gas hose so it avoids sharp corners and make sure nothing is on top of it. Repair or replace damaged hoses. Also, dirt or debris could be in the solenoid. Remove the cover and check that all connections are in good condition.

Check that the electrode slides easily through the gun and cable, remove tight bends from the gun and cable, and ensure the spindle brake isn't too tight. Verify a high-quality electrode is being used. Wait for the error to reset and the motor to cool (approximately 30 seconds). Clean, inspect, or replace the liner.
