Why is my Lincoln Electric Wire Feeders wire feeding inconsistently?
    • E
      Evelyn TorresAug 16, 2025
If your Lincoln Electric Wire Feeders experience inconsistent wire feeding, even when the drive rolls are turning, several factors could be at play. The gun cable might be kinked or twisted, or the wire could be jammed within. A dirty or worn gun liner, rusty or dirty electrode, or a contact tip with spatter could also be the cause. It is also possible the wrong gun liner, tip, or drive is being used. To resolve this, ensure the gun cable is as straight as possible, remove any jammed wire, and blow out the gun liner with low pressure (40psi or less), replacing it if necessary.

Why is there no shielding gas coming from my Lincoln Electric LN-25X?
    • J
      jameslarsonAug 19, 2025
If you're not getting any shielding gas with your Lincoln Electric Wire Feeders, several things could be wrong. First, check that your gas supply is turned on and isn't empty. Make sure the gas hose isn't cut, crushed, or sharply bent. Also, check that the flow meter valve is open. There might be dirt or debris in the solenoid, or a loose solenoid connection. In some cases, the solenoid itself may have failed. To troubleshoot, ensure the gas supply is on, route the gas hose carefully, open the flow meter valve, try applying filtered shop air at 80psi to the solenoid to remove dirt, and check all solenoid connections.

Why does the wire feed speed consistently operate at the wrong value on my Lincoln Electric Wire Feeders?
    • S
      stevencraigAug 22, 2025
If the wire feed speed is consistently off on your Lincoln Electric Wire Feeders, and adjusts when you turn the knob, it could be due to a few reasons. Check the jumper lead for normal speed/extra torque to make sure it's connected correctly. Also, the wrong gear might be installed in the wire drive. Finally, worn brushes on the motor can also cause this issue. To fix it, properly connect the jumper, install the correct pinion gear, or replace the motor/gearbox assembly.

What to do if Lincoln Electric Wire Feeders show Err 81 Motor overload?
    • M
      Michael BallAug 26, 2025
If your Lincoln Electric Wire Feeders motor is overloading long term, it means the wire drive motor has overheated. To address this, check that the electrode slides easily through the gun and cable, remove any tight bends, and ensure the spindle brake isn't too tight. Also, verify that a high-quality electrode is being used. After checking these, wait for the error to reset and the motor to cool down (approximately 1 minute).

What to do if Lincoln Electric LN-25X show Err 82 Motor overload?
    • C
      Christine PhelpsAug 28, 2025
If your Lincoln Electric Wire Feeders motor is overloading short term, it usually means the motor's current draw has exceeded its limits, often because the motor is stuck. To solve this, first check that the motor can turn freely when the idle arm is open. Then, make sure the gears are free of any debris and dirt.

Why is there no output from my Lincoln Electric Wire Feeders when the trigger is pulled?
    • B
      Blake CruzAug 31, 2025
If your Lincoln Electric Wire Feeders power up but there's no output when you pull the trigger, while the shielding gas flows and the drive rolls turn, the contactor coil connections might be loose, or the contactor itself may have failed. Verify the contactor coil connections and replace the contactor if needed.

Why is the wire feed speed stuck on my Lincoln Electric LN-25X?
    • S
      Sharon BruceSep 3, 2025
If the wire feed speed is stuck at 200-300 in/min on your Lincoln Electric Wire Feeders and doesn't change when you adjust the wire feed speed knob, the tachometer might be connected improperly or has failed. To fix this, verify all of the tachometer leads are properly connected. If that doesn't work, replace the motor and tachometer assembly.

What causes a variable arc in Lincoln Electric Wire Feeders?
    • T
      Theresa WoodSep 6, 2025
If you're experiencing a variable or "hunting" arc with your Lincoln Electric Wire Feeders, it could be due to several reasons. The contact tip might be the wrong size, worn, or melted. The work cable could be worn, or the work connection might be poor. The polarity could be incorrect. Also, the gas nozzle might be extended too far beyond the contact tip, or the wire stickout might be too long. Finally, there could be poor gas shielding. To troubleshoot, replace the contact tip, ensure all work and electrode connections are tight and cables are in good condition, adjust the polarity, adjust the gas nozzle and shorten the stickout to ½ to ¾ inches, and check gas flow and mixture, removing any drafts.

Why won't my Lincoln Electric Wire Feeders power up?
    • N
      Nicholas Soto DVMSep 9, 2025
If your Lincoln Electric Wire Feeders don't power up, showing no voltage or cold feed, the work sense lead may be disconnected or have a poor electrical connection (for Across the arc models). Also, ensure the power source is turned ON. Connect the work sense lead to a clean spot on the work, free of dirt, rust, and paint, and turn ON the power source.

Why does the wire feed slowly on my Lincoln Electric LN-25X when the trigger is pulled?
    • H
      Hunter JordanSep 12, 2025
If, when you pull the trigger, the wire feeds slowly on your Lincoln Electric Wire Feeders, the Run-In switch is likely turned “ON”. Use the set-up Push-button to turn Run-in OFF.
