Table of Contents
(Universal Term - CDs) Usually known as TOC. On every CD, the first part of the disc (the section nearest
the hole in the middle) is the table of contents. This contains information such as how many tracks are on the
disc, how long each track is, how long the disc is etc. This information is required by the CD player in order
to find and play tracks on the disc. The TOC must be read by the player before any other actions can be
taken. If the CD player fails to read the TOC, it will be unable to perform any other tasks.
Thru-hole
Refers to ‘Thru-hole soldering’ - A method of soldering components to a PCB where the leg of the
component is passed through a hole in the surface of the PCB and is soldered on the other side. See also
‘Surface Mount’
Thru-hole Track
This is a copper track which passes from one side of a PCB to another - because PCBs have tracks on both
sides of the board, sometimes they must be connected to each other and this is done via Thru-hole tracking
and ‘Via-holes’ (see below).

Trampolin
An LP12 upgrade - the base-board and feet of the LP12 are replaced with a Trampolin which better isolates
the LP12 from the outside world. The feet are attached to little trampoline-like devices that act as
isolators/shock absorbers.
Tri-Amp
Same as Bi-Amp except using 3 power amps to drive 3-way speakers (one amp for bass, one for mid, one
for treble)
Trikan
A Linn centre-channel loudspeaker for AV applications. Introduced 2001.
Trip
A term used with reference to power amps - when a power amp goes into ‘Protection’ mode we say it has
Tripped. (there are many reasons why this may happen - if it overheats, if there is a problem and too much
