Overview

The Floë 868 Induratec Integrated 115V AC Water Drainage System is a device designed to remove residual water from water supply systems in RVs and homes. Its primary function is to prevent pipes from freezing in winter and to flush out stale water in summer. Additionally, it helps remove dirt and lime scale from water heaters, contributing to their longevity and efficiency. This manual specifically covers the installation and owner's guide for aftermarket applications of the Model 868.

Function Description:

The Floë 868 operates by introducing compressed air into a sealed water system to push out residual water. It builds up air pressure to 15 psi, effectively clearing water from pipes, faucets, showers, toilets, washing machines, dishwashers, and even refrigerator ice makers. The system is designed to work on a sealed system, and its ability to build pressure indicates a leak-free setup. The device is particularly useful for winterizing properties to prevent frost damage and for maintaining a clean fresh water system in vacation homes or RVs.

Important Technical Specifications:

    • Black screw caps (Qty: 4)
    • Cable tie (Qty: 1)

Usage Features:

The Floë 868 is designed for ease of use in draining water systems.

  • Installation: The unit is installed near an AC outlet and the main water shutoff valve. It requires cutting into the main water line and connecting the provided tee fitting and air line. The box is mounted to a secure surface, ensuring the On/Off button is accessible.
  • Operation Sequence:
    1. Turn off the main water supply shutoff valve.
    2. Ensure all taps, water outlets, and irrigation systems are closed.
    3. Manually drain and close the water heater.
    4. Open the blue shutoff valve under the Floë unit.
    5. Switch on the Floë unit. The compressor will run for a short period (2-3 seconds, or up to 60 seconds if a water heater is connected) to build 15 psi of air pressure.
    6. Open each faucet/outlet (hot and cold) one at a time to allow compressed air to push out water until only air remains. The Floë unit will automatically restart to maintain pressure.
    7. Close the faucet/outlet once drained.
    8. Repeat for all remaining hot and cold faucets, showers, toilets, washing machines, dishwashers, and refrigerator ice makers.
    9. Once all outlets are drained, switch off Floë and close the blue shutoff valve.
  • Toilet Draining: To drain toilets, turn on the isolation valve (if present), lift the tank lid, and push the float down to release water while Floë is operational.
  • Washing Machine Draining: With Floë operational, close the machine door, turn the machine to a wash cycle, and press start. The solenoid valve will open, and air will clear the water in the pipe and hose. Switch off the machine once air is heard.
  • Dishwasher Draining: Similar to a washing machine, set to wash, press start, and switch off once air flow is heard.
  • Refrigerator Ice Maker Draining: Drain by drawing a glass of water from the cold water outlet. The ice maker will eventually run out of water as the system clears.
  • Irrigation System Draining: Open the water bib at the irrigation system junction. For multi-zone systems, open each zone switch sequentially to drain.
  • Safety Features: Includes a shutoff valve as a backup safety measure. The manual emphasizes turning off the main water supply before draining and not pressurizing the system for more than one minute without releasing water or air.
  • Usage Frequency: Recommended to drain vacation properties after most trips for clean water and frost protection. Draining once a year helps flush sediment from water heaters.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual provides guidance for common issues such as the Floë running beyond two to three minutes or not stopping, which typically indicate air leaks.

Maintenance Features:

  • Leak Detection: The system is designed to build pressure only when sealed. If Floë fails to build pressure, it indicates an air leak. The manual suggests testing for leaks by sealing connections with a thumb and listening for air, or by applying soapy water to joints and watching for bubbles.
  • Connection Integrity: Regular checks of connections are advised. When cutting pipes, ensure ends are perfectly rounded and wet with a damp cloth before inserting into connectors to prevent damage to internal "O" rings.
  • Antifreeze Application (Winterizing): For winterizing, it is recommended to add a cup of antifreeze to the toilet tank after flushing and to all sink/shower drains to prevent freezing and staining.
  • Rest Period: After a complete draindown, the Floë system should be allowed to rest for 30 minutes before performing another complete draindown to prevent overheating or damage.
  • Component Replacement: Replacement kits and parts can be ordered from the Lippert store or through the LippertNOW app.
  • Information Access: Additional product information and support are available online at Ici1.com/support or via the LippertNOW app, which is free on Apple App Store® and Google Play™.
