Overview

The Logika Smart Embedded Switch is designed to transform existing light switches into smart switches, allowing for integration into a smart home system. It is available in 1-gang and 2-gang versions, identified by model numbers WL-ZCSENPB-S0410-01 and WL-ZCSENPB-S0420-01 respectively.

Function Description:

The primary function of the Smart Embedded Switch is to enable smart control of lighting. It operates using the IEEE 802.15.4 Zigbee communication protocol, allowing it to be linked to smart assistants like Amazon Alexa for voice-controlled lighting and integrated into scene management within a smart home ecosystem. The embedded design ensures that the existing switch aesthetics are maintained while adding smart capabilities. It keeps lights in sync with the smart system, providing a seamless user experience. The device includes a SET key and a System Indicator for configuration and status feedback.

Usage Features:

The device is designed for ease of integration into a smart home network. Upon initial power-on, it automatically attempts to connect to the Zigbee Smart Home network, indicated by a flashing System Indicator light. If successful, the light remains solid for 2 seconds before turning off. Manual connection is also possible via the mobile app. To join the Zigbee network, the SET button is pressed once, causing the System Indicator to flash. A successful connection is confirmed by the light staying solid for 2 seconds then going out.

The Smart Embedded Switch supports binding to other devices, such as remote-control buttons, through the mobile app. A successful binding is indicated by the System Indicator flashing 3 times, while failure results in 6 flashes. To remove the device from the Zigbee network and reset it to factory defaults, the SET button must be long-pressed for 6 seconds. The System Indicator will flash 4 times and then turn off, confirming the reset.

Installation:

Installation requires a qualified technician and adherence to specific wiring diagrams provided in the manual. The device should be installed in a plastic back box to prevent signal impairment, as a metallic back box can interfere with the signal. Before installation, it is crucial to turn off the power supply. The null and live wires must not be reversed, as electrical work is dangerous and should only be performed by professionals. The device should be mounted in a dry environment and is not designed for outdoor use.

The installation process involves:

  1. Removing the existing switch panel and connecting the Smart Embedded Light Switch to the incoming wiring according to the appropriate diagram (switch or curtain switch).
  2. Connecting S1 and/or S2 to the wall switch side and thoroughly checking the wiring.
  3. Accessing the SET button on the top of the unit to enable connection to the Zigbee network before screwing the switch plate back onto the wall.
  4. Following the instructions in the Logika Smart Mobile App user guide to add the device to the smart home network, ensuring mains power is enabled.
  5. Once connected to the Zigbee network, placing the device inside the back box and screwing the switch plate back on.

Maintenance Features:

The device is designed for minimal maintenance. However, certain precautions are necessary for its longevity and optimal performance. It is recommended to place the device away from sources of interference such as washing machines, microwave ovens, refrigerators, and wireless routers, as these can affect its signal strength. The product should not be disassembled or modified, and only supplied accessories should be used. Logika is not responsible for any loss due to improper installation or use.

Troubleshooting:

If the device cannot be added to the Zigbee network, it may be registered to another network, possibly from factory testing. In such cases, performing the "Quit the Zigbee Network" procedure (long press SET button for 6 seconds) will clear the setting and allow the device to be added to the local smart network. For any other issues, users are advised to contact Logika support at support@logika.nz.
