The Logitech K400 Plus Wireless Touch Keyboard is a versatile input device designed for comfortable and intuitive interaction with various computing systems. It combines a full-size keyboard layout with an integrated touchpad, all within a compact form factor, making it ideal for use with desktop and laptop computers, as well as for controlling media centers from a distance.
The primary function of the K400 Plus is to provide a comprehensive input solution, offering both typing and cursor control capabilities. The keyboard features a standard QWERTY layout with "incurve" keys, which are designed to be comfortable for touch typists and contribute to a quiet typing experience due to their soft key stroke.
Integrated into the keyboard is a full-size touchpad, which supports familiar scroll and navigation gestures, allowing users to interact with their operating system and applications with ease. Below the touchpad are dedicated left and right mouse-click buttons, providing traditional mouse functionality. Additionally, volume control buttons are conveniently located above the touchpad, offering quick access to audio adjustments.
For enhanced two-hand control, particularly for users who prefer to navigate with their thumbs, a dedicated left mouse-click button is positioned on the upper left side of the keyboard. This allows users to navigate with their right hand on the touchpad and select items with their left hand, providing a more ergonomic and efficient workflow for certain tasks.
The K400 Plus also incorporates a range of shortcut and function keys designed to streamline navigation, media control, and various keyboard functions. These include keys for "Back," "Home," "Switch application," "Menu," "Search," "Show/hide desktop," "Maximise window," "Switch screen," and "Media" playback controls such as "Previous track," "Play/Pause," and "Next track." Dedicated buttons for "Mute," "Volume down," and "Volume up" are also present. Furthermore, the keyboard includes function key combinations for "PC sleep" (Fn + ins), "Print screen" (Fn + backspace), "Scroll lock" (Fn + caps lock), "Home" (Fn + left arrow), "End" (Fn + right arrow), "Page up" (Fn + up arrow), and "Page down" (Fn + down arrow). The F1-F12 keys can be activated by simply pressing Fn + the corresponding key.
The K400 Plus is designed for ease of use, offering a plug-and-play experience. To set up the device, users simply insert the Unifying receiver into a USB port on their computer and then pull the yellow battery tab from the keyboard to activate it. It's important to ensure the keyboard's ON/OFF switch, located at the top, is in the ON position for the device to function.

For more advanced control, pressing the Fn key and the left mouse button simultaneously allows users to toggle between touch tap disable and enable. Scrolling is intuitive, achieved by using two fingers to scroll up or down on the touchpad. For comfortable two-handed navigation, users can also press the Fn key and slide one finger anywhere on the touchpad simultaneously to scroll.
The keyboard is compatible with a range of operating systems, including Windows® 7 and later, Chrome OS™, and Android™ 5.0.2 and later. However, it's noted that keyboard functionality, such as Hot Keys and Touchpad Gestures, may vary depending on the specific operating system. Users can check their system settings to confirm compatibility.
For those who desire further customization and additional features, Logitech offers "Logitech Options" software. This software allows users to modify the cursor speed, adjust scrolling behavior, review tutorial videos on gestures, create custom shortcut keys, disable and enable specific keys (like Caps Lock, Insert, and Windows Start), and receive notifications for Caps Lock status and low battery.
The K400 Plus is designed for long-term use with minimal maintenance. A key maintenance feature is the convenient storage for the Unifying receiver. When the keyboard is not in use, the receiver can be stored in the battery compartment, preventing it from being lost.
Battery replacement is a straightforward process. The keyboard uses AA batteries, and the manual provides visual guidance on how to access the battery compartment and replace them. The Logitech Unifying Wireless Technology allows users to connect up to six Unifying-ready devices to one tiny receiver, simplifying connectivity and potentially reducing the number of USB ports required.
