Overview

This document is an instruction manual for LOVELec e-bikes, providing comprehensive information on their use, maintenance, and warranty.

Function Description

LOVELEC e-bikes are electric bicycles designed to provide a positive influence on cardiovascular and musculoskeletal systems, reduce the risk of diabetes and high blood pressure, and improve human balance, coordination, movement, strength, endurance, and stress hormones. They are designed to help protect the environment by lowering carbon footprint and do not emit fumes or CO2. The electric drive system assists the rider, making it easier to ride uphill, faster, or with less effort than on a regular bike. The e-bike operates with a pedal-assist system (Pedal Electric Cycle, PEDELEC category), meaning the electric drive provides assistance only when the rider is pedaling. The maximum permanent performance of the auxiliary electric drive is 0.25 kW, and the sound intensity level is less than 55 dB. The electric performance is interrupted if the cyclist stops pedaling or if the e-bike exceeds 25 km/h speed limit. The motor is charged from a Lithium-Ion rechargeable battery with a total voltage of 36 V.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Battery: Lithium-Ion (Li-Ion) rechargeable battery, 36 V total voltage.
  • Charger: EN, CE, 42 V, 2 A. Charging time is approximately 4–6 hours.
  • Motor Performance: Maximum permanent performance of 0.25 kW.
  • Speed Limit: Electric assistance cuts off at 25 km/h.
  • Sound Intensity Level: Less than 55 dB.
  • Warranty: 24 months warranty from the day of purchase for the first owner. The aluminum frame (6061) is secured by a lifelong warranty.

Usage Features

Before the First Ride:

  • Pedals: The pedals are marked as „R“ (right) and „L“ (left) and should be screwed in tightly.
  • Rechargeable Battery: Insert the rechargeable battery into the case/frame/on frame of the e-bike (depending on the individual model – see attachment). The battery is secured by the lock, and keys are provided to prevent theft.
  • Keys to the Battery Lock: Every e-bike is equipped with a unique pair of keys to the battery lock.
  • Wheel Mounting: Check the correct wheel mounting to the frame and to the fork.
  • Tire Inflation: Ensure correct tire inflation; optimal pressure value is stated on the tires. Incorrect tire inflation can cause damage to the whole e-bike and decrease the adhesion of the wheels to the ground.
  • Shift Adjustment: Leave the shift adjustment to the professional bike service.
  • Brakes Adjustment: Leave the brakes adjustment to the professional bike service.
  • Brake Caliper: Secure the pistons in the brake caliper by the plastic insertion if you are unmounting the wheel from the e-bike with the hydraulic brakes, which prevents the unwanted aeration (pulling the brakes while missing the wheels).
  • Damaged Wheel Rim: Replace the new one as soon as possible.
  • Saddle Adjustment: Adjust the position of the saddle by pulling the seatpost up or down, so the leg on the pedal in the lowest position is slightly bent. Secure the seatpost clamp in the seatpost. Do not pull the seatpost higher than indicated on it.
  • Suspended Fork: Adjust the suspended fork by increasing the rigidity of the fork by moving it in direction of „–“ or decreasing it by moving it in direction of „+“. You can fully block the fork if it is equipped with the lock. Air forks allow to customize its rigidity by setting the air pressure in the pressure chamber by the help of the special air fork pump.
  • Lights: Use the front and back lights while riding in the night or under impaired visibility. Reflectors and other safety features keep clean and uncovered.
  • Operating the E-bike: Take into consideration that the e-bike is heavier than an usual bike. During manipulation with the e-bike, make sure that the electric system is turned off. Avoid overloading the electric motor (repeated ride through a long and steep hill). The e-bike can be used even during a moderate rain, but avoid leaving it in the open spaces during heavy rain, snow or in a thick fog. Keep in mind locking the battery when parking the e-bike outside (if it is possible). Secure the e-bike using a suitable lock for bicycles.

First Ride:

  • Assistance Level: Set the „1“/„LOW“ level of the assistance (based on the individual model – see attachment).
  • Move Off: Move off carefully – as on an usual bicycle.
  • Driving: You will acknowledge the assistance of the drive in the moment. Try ride it, turn it and brake it. As you will stop pedaling or start braking, the motor will disable itself. Repeat this several times until you become familiar with the behavior of your e-bike.
  • Motor Assistance: Increase the motor assistance gradually.
  • Pedaling: Slow down or lower the motor assistance during turns. The pedaling through the sharp turn on the higher assistance level can lead to a possible accident.

Maintenance Features

Battery Maintenance:

  • First Charging: The first charging time is 6–8 hours. The following charge to the full capacity will take approximately 4–6 hours.
  • Charger Connection: The charger connector is to be put into the battery, afterwards connect the charger to a 230 V network secured with at least 5 A. Disconnection should be done in the opposite direction.
  • Charging Status: The charge status is indicated by the LED light on the charger. The red light indicates charging, green light indicates fully charged.
  • Automatic Charge Control: The battery is equipped with the automatic charge control system, after a full charge it will turn itself off automatically.
  • Battery Placement: The battery can be charged inside the carrier/in the frame/on the frame (depending on the individual model – see attachment) or you can charge it independently.
  • Heat Sources: Do not charge the battery near flammable materials or heat sources.
  • Environment: During charging do not expose to sunlight and choose a dry environment with a good air circulation (do not cover the charger or the battery).
  • Metallic Components: Make sure that during charging there are no signs of the metallic components that can cause electric shortage.
  • Battery Heat: The charger and the battery may heat up, it is not considered as a failure.
  • Disassembly: Do not open, disassemble or modify the charger.
  • Storage: The rechargeable battery capacity lowers gradually with age and the number of charges. The charge status is indicated by the LED lights (see attachment). The ideal storage conditions: dry place, the temperature 10–15 oC, maximum 70% air humidity. Remove the battery from the e-bike and store it fully charged (see above) if you are not using the e-bike for the long period of time. The rechargeable battery is gradually discharging itself when stored, therefore it should be charged once in 2 months. The charge status should not drop under 20 % (red light indication). We recommend to charge the battery regularly.
  • Cleaning: Keep the battery clean and dry at all times.
  • Temperature: Protect the battery from humidity, low temperatures and heat sources.
  • Shocks and Bumps: Protect the battery from shocks and bumps.
  • Heat or Open Fire: Do not store the battery near sources of heat or open fire.
  • Strong Magnetic Field: Do not exhibit the battery to the influence of a strong magnetic field.
  • Deformed, Smells or Has Manifested Any Other Unusual Behaviour: Remove the battery from the carrier/frame (depending on individual model – see attachment) if it is deformed, smells or has manifested any other unusual behaviour – contact the dealer.
  • Damaged Battery: Do not keep the rechargeable battery uncharged, it can cause damage. Avoiding this rule leads to invalidation of the warranty.
  • Other Devices: Do not use the battery to charge other devices.
  • Prolonged Charger Connection: Do not leave the battery plugged into the powered charger for longer periods of time (more than 2 days).
  • Metallic Components: Do not put any metallic components into the battery connector – it can cause an electrical shortage.

General Maintenance and Storage:

  • Cleaning: Keep the mechanical components of the e-bike clean and adequately lubricated. Do not use high-pressure cleaner (VAP) to clean the e-bike. Use a wet cloth moistened with the detergent solution to keep the e-bike clean and dry it with a dry cloth afterwards. Only use detergents intended for cleaning the bicycles and their components.
  • Lubrication: Only use oils suitable for bicycle lubrication. Apply an adequate amount regularly on the chain, derailleur, the gear and the brake cables.
  • Functionality Check: Regularly monitor the overall functionality of the e-bike (brakes functionality, signs of damage or component wear).
  • Storage: In case of storage longer than 1 month, please remove the rechargeable battery and store it in optimal conditions (see chapter „Battery maintenance“).

Warranty Inspection:

  • Proceed with the warranty inspection after riding through 150–200 km or after 3 months of purchasing the e-bike. The warranty inspection can be secured by any bicycle service.
  • The warranty inspection includes control and adjustment of the mechanical components of the electric bike (such as tightening screw connections, brakes adjustment, rim centring etc.) The electric part of the warranty inspections includes correct motor and rechargeable battery control. Please contact your dealer in case of the failure within the electric parts of the e-bike (battery, motor, display, control panel, lights, cables).
  • The warranty inspection must be stated on the warranty card of the e-bike including the date, sign and the stamp of the bicycle service, which performed it.
  • The warranty inspection is necessary for validation of the warranty. Non-compliance of the warranty inspection leads to the invalidation of the warranty.

Recycling:

  • The symbols illustrated on the right side, which can be stated directly on the device, its packaging or inside of the Instructions for use or the warranty card, inform the consumer, that the stated electro device, battery or rechargeable battery is not to be placed into the municipal waste. The incorrect liquidation of such a devices may lead to a penalty of the consumer in the accordance with the law.
  • You can submit the expired electro devices, batteries or rechargeable batteries by the dealer from whom you purchased the goods, without any additional fees.
  • We produce more than 50 million tons of the electro waste (electro devices, batteries, rechargeable batteries) in the whole world yearly. The majority of it can be recycled (used for further production). Instead, it ends up in municipal waste landfill or even in nature. Some of the substances contained in those devices, specifically mercury (Hg), lead (Pb) and cadmium (Cd), are particularly dangerous for human health and the environment. The devices that contain those elements are marked by the symbol of the individual chemical element. By recycling the electro devices, batteries and rechargeable batteries we can lower the environmental impact and protect the natural resources.
