This document describes a Network Video Recorder (NVR) and its various functions, features, and operational guidelines.
Function Description:
The NVR is designed for recording, managing, and playing back video from network cameras, network domes, and encoders. It supports third-party network cameras from brands like Acti, Arecont, Axis, Bosch, Brickcom, Canon, Panasonic, Pelco, Samsung, Sanyo, Sony, Vivotek, and Zavio, as well as cameras adopting ONVIF or PSIA protocols. The device is compatible with smart IP cameras and supports H.265+/H.265/ H.264+/H.264/MPEG4 video formats, along with PAL/NTSC adaptive video inputs. Each channel supports dual-stream recording, and the NVR can add up to 8, 16, 32, or 64 network cameras depending on the model. Independent configuration for each channel, including resolution, frame rate, bit rate, and image quality, is available. The quality of input and output records is configurable.
Important Technical Specifications:
- Video Output: HDMI/VGA1 and HDMI2/VGA2 outputs are provided, with HDMI video output supporting up to 4K resolution.
- HDD Management: Supports up to 16 SATA hard disks and 1 eSATA disk for I16 models, and up to 8 SATA hard disks and 1 eSATA disk for I8 and K8 models. Each disk supports up to 8 TB storage capacity. It also supports 8 network disks (NAS/IP SAN disk), S.M.A.R.T. and bad sector detection, HDD group management, HDD standby function, HDD property (redundancy, read-only, read/write), and HDD quota management. RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 5, RAID 6, and RAID 10 are supported, with hot-swappable RAID storage schemes configurable for up to 16 arrays. Disk cloning to eSATA and HDD health monitoring are also included.
- PoE Interface: For LTN86xx(D)-P and LTN89xx(H)-P series, PoE interfaces enable safe electrical power and data transmission over Ethernet cabling to connected PoE cameras. Long-distance PoE transmission (100 to 300 meters) is supported, though bandwidth for IP cameras connected via long network cable (100-300m) cannot exceed 6 MP. CAT5E or CAT6 network cables are required for distances between 100-250m, and CAT6 for 250-300m.
- Network Interfaces: Features two self-adaptive 10M/100M/1000 Mbps network interfaces.
- Protocols: Supports IPv6, TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, DDNS, NTP, IP PORTAL, SMTP, NFS, iSCSI, UDP, and RTP for unicast.
- USB Interfaces: Universal Serial Bus (USB) ports for additional devices like USB mouse and USB Hard Disk Drive (HDD).
- RS-232/RS-485: RS-232 and RS-485 transparent channel transmission.
Usage Features:
- Local Monitoring: Multi-screen display in live view with adjustable channel sequence. Live view screens can be switched manually or automatically with configurable intervals. Custom window-division live view layout configuration and 3D positioning are available. Configurable main stream and sub-stream for live view, quick setting menu, and POS information overlay.
- PTZ Control: Multiple PTZ protocols supported, including preset, patrol, and pattern functions. Zooming in by mouse click and PTZ tracing by dragging the mouse are possible. Auxiliary functions like light, wiper, 3D positioning, and center control are available.
- Recording & Playback: Holiday recording schedule configuration, continuous and event video recording parameters. Multiple recording types: manual, continuous, alarm, motion, motion | alarm, motion & alarm, VCA, and POS. Eight recording time periods with separated recording types. POS information overlay on image. Pre-record and post-record for alarm and motion detection. Search record files and captured pictures by events, tag adding for record files, locking/unlocking record files, and local redundant recording. Normal/Smart/custom video playback modes, playback by video synopsis, and searching by channel number, recording type, start/end time. Supports main stream or sub-stream playback, smart search for selected areas, zooming in during playback, reverse playback of multi-channel, and various playback controls (pause, speed up/down, skip forward/backward). Thumbnails view and fast view during playback are supported, with up to 16-channel synchronous playback at 1080p real time. Playback by transcoded stream, manual and continuous capture of video images. H.264+ support for high video quality with lowered bitrate.
- File Management: Search and export vehicle detection files and human appearance files. Export video data by USB, SATA, or eSATA device. Export video clips during playback. Normal or Hot Spare working mode for N+1 hot spare system configuration.
- Alarm & Exception: Configurable arming time for alarm input/output. Alarms for video loss, motion detection, tampering, abnormal signal, video input/output standard mismatch, illegal login, network disconnected, HDD error, and HDD full. POS triggered alarm and VCA detection alarm supported. Smart analysis for people counting and heat map. Connectable to thermal network cameras. Alarm triggers include full screen monitoring, audio alarm, notifying surveillance center, sending e-mail, and alarm output. Automatic restore when system is abnormal.
- User Management: Three-level user management (admin, operator, guest) with definable operating permissions per channel. Admin password resetting via GUID file export/import or security questions.
