This document is an instruction manual for the Magic Chef™ MCBR360S Refrigerator, designed to provide users with essential information for proper operation, maintenance, and safety.

Function Description:

The Magic Chef MCBR360S is a compact refrigerator designed for home use, offering refrigeration and a small freezer compartment. Its primary function is to keep food and beverages cool and to freeze a limited quantity of items. The unit is designed for freestanding installation and is not intended for recessed use.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Model No.: MCBR360S
  • Product Description: Stainless Steel Looking Door Refrigerator
  • Capacity: 3.6 cu. ft.
  • Unit Dimensions (Inches):
    • Width: 18.5
    • Height: 32.5
    • Depth: 19.25
  • Net Weight (lbs): 55
  • Internal Components (as per diagram): Shelf, Freezer Compartment, Drain Pan, Temperature Control Box, Temperature Control Dial, Can Dispenser, Rack, Bottle Rack, Door Liner.
  • Power Supply: Must be correctly connected to the power supply. An extension cord should not be used.
  • Cooling System: Requires the unit to stand upright for 4 hours before connecting to power to prevent malfunctioning due to improper handling.
  • Defrosting: Manual defrosting is required when ice/frost reaches approximately 1/4" thickness.

Usage Features:

  • Starting the Refrigerator:
    1. Clean the interior and exterior thoroughly.
    2. Insert the power supply cord into the socket.
    3. Turn the thermostat dial to "7" (coldest setting) for 15-20 minutes.
    4. Reduce the thermostat to a mid-range setting between "3" and "5" for normal use.
  • Temperature Control: The thermostat dial controls the internal temperature, with "1" being the warmest and "7" being the coldest setting. The dial can be set anywhere on the scale, not just on a specific number. For making ice cubes, the thermostat should be adjusted to the coldest setting.
  • Restarting: If the refrigerator is unplugged, wait 3-5 minutes before restarting to ensure proper operation.
  • Defrosting Procedure:
    1. Set the thermostat dial to "0" (OFF).
    2. Remove all contents from the freezer compartment.
    3. Leave the freezer door open to allow ice/frost to melt.
    4. Remove large pieces of ice as needed.
    5. Do not use hot water or electric heating devices to melt ice.
    6. Do not use sharp tools (knives, metal instruments) to scrape ice/frost from the evaporator.
    7. After defrosting, remove accumulated ice/water and wipe the freezer compartment dry.
    8. Restart the unit following the starting instructions.
  • Child Safety: Before disposing of an old refrigerator, remove the doors and leave shelves in place to prevent children from easily climbing inside.
  • Food Storage: Allow warm food to cool to room temperature before placing it in the refrigerator or freezer to save energy. Avoid freezing bottled liquids like carbonated soft drinks, beer, or wine, as this can cause bottles and cans to rupture.
  • Installation:
    • Install in a convenient location away from extreme heat and cold.
    • Allow sufficient clearance (at least 5 inches) between the refrigerator's sides and the wall for door opening and proper ventilation.
    • Ensure the floor is strong and level.
    • The appliance must be correctly connected to the power supply.
    • Do not use an extension cord.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning:
    • General: Never use harsh, abrasive cleaners, heavy-duty cleaners, or solvents on any surface.
    • Exterior: Wipe with a damp, sudsy cloth, rinse, and dry. For stubborn stains or periodic waxing, use silicon wax.
    • Freezer: During defrosting, turn the thermostat to "OFF" ("0"). Do not use sharp instruments to scrape off ice/frost.
    • Refrigeration Section: Wash shelves and other removable parts in warm sudsy water, rinse, and dry. Wash the interior with a baking soda solution (3 tablespoons to 1 liter of water) or warm sudsy water, rinse, and dry.
    • Magnetic Door Seals: Wash with warm sudsy water.
    • Finishing Touch: Replace all parts and return the thermostat dial to the desired setting after cleaning.
  • Energy Saving Tips:
    • Keep refrigerator and freezer doors closed as much as possible, especially in warm/humid conditions.
    • Maintain adequate ventilation around the back and sides of the unit.
    • Maintain a thermostat setting between "3" and "5" under normal use.
    • Allow warm food to cool to room temperature before placing it inside.
    • Defrost the unit when ice/frost is 1/4" thick to prevent excessive ice build-up, which increases energy consumption.
  • Care During Prolonged Absence:
    • Remove the plug from the outlet.
    • Remove all contents from the fridge.
    • Dry the interior and leave the door open for a few days.
  • Moving the Fridge:
    • Secure all movable parts and contents (package separately if necessary).
    • Transport the fridge only in an upright position to avoid damaging the compressor.
  • Troubleshooting (Before Calling Service):
    • If the refrigerator seems too warm: Check door closure and seal, ensure interior circulation is not obstructed (not overloaded), confirm food was cooled before storage, and verify sufficient clearance around the fridge.
    • If the fridge makes unusual noises: Check if it's wobbling (re-level if needed), remove any objects fallen behind the fridge, and rearrange any vibrating or resonating containers inside.
  • Power Cord Replacement: If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by a qualified repair agent.
  • Repairs: All repairs should be made by a qualified service technician. Repairs made by non-qualified personnel will void the warranty.
  • Warranty: MC Appliance Corp. provides a one-year warranty on parts and labor for defects in material and workmanship, and a five-year warranty on the compressor (parts only). The consumer is responsible for labor and transportation expenses related to compressor replacement after the first year. A dated sales receipt/invoice is required for warranty service. The warranty covers appliances in use within the continental United States, Puerto Rico, and Hawaii. It does not cover damages from shipping, improper installation, misuse, abuse, content losses, punctures to the evaporator system, unauthorized repairs, service calls not involving defects, house fuse/circuit breaker issues, use for unintended purposes, disposal costs, delivery costs for failed units, or a $35.00 delivery charge for replacement units under warranty.
