The Magic Mill Hot Water Urn, models MUR25 and MUR35, is a household appliance designed for heating and dispensing hot water. It features a sleek stainless steel body with black accents for the lid knob, easy-carry handles, and faucet.
Important Technical Specifications:
- Model Numbers: MUR25, MUR35
- Wattage: 1400W
- Supply Voltage: 120V
- Temperature Range: 86-212° F
Usage Features:
The urn is equipped with several features to ensure ease of use and safety:
- Lid Knob: For safely removing and securing the lid.
- Easy Carry Handles: Designed for convenient and safe transportation of the urn, especially when empty or cooled.
- Level Indicator: A clear vertical strip on the front of the urn allows users to easily monitor the water level inside without opening the lid.
- Faucet: A black, spring-loaded faucet located at the bottom front of the urn for easy dispensing of hot water.
- Indicator Light: A green light on the lower front of the urn illuminates to indicate the operational status, such as when the heating elements are active or when the water has reached boiling temperature.
- Switch Cover: A protective cover for the "Keep Warm/Boil Switch" to prevent accidental changes.
- Keep Warm/Boil Switch: This dual-function switch allows users to select between boiling water and keeping it warm.
- Boiling Mode: To boil water, both the "boil" and "keep warm" switches should be in the ON position. Both indicator lights will illuminate, activating the heating elements. After approximately 30 minutes, once the water has finished boiling, the boiling element will automatically shut off. The indicator light will remain on. If the water temperature drops, the re-boil function will activate automatically, but only if both "keep warm" and "boil" modes are still on.
- Keep Warm Mode: To keep water warm after boiling, the "boil" switch should be turned off, while the "keep warm" switch remains on. This maintains the water at a warm temperature.
- Minimum Volume: For safe operation, the urn must be filled with at least 1/3 of its maximum capacity.
- Polarized Plug: The appliance comes with a polarized plug (one blade wider than the other) to reduce the risk of electric shock. It is designed to fit into a polarized outlet in only one way. If it doesn't fit, the user should reverse the plug or contact a qualified electrician. No modification to the plug should be attempted.
Maintenance Features:
Proper cleaning and maintenance are crucial for the longevity and optimal performance of the Magic Mill Hot Water Urn:
- Pre-Use Cleaning: Before the first use, all attachments should be washed in warm, soapy water and dried with a clean cloth.
- Regular Rinsing: The water boiler should be rinsed immediately after each use. A small amount of hot water should be poured into the tank and rinsed until it runs clean.
- Interior Cleaning: The interior of the unit, including any scale or sediment from the heating element, should be cleaned with a soft brush or sponge.
- Lid Cleaning: The lid should be removed and cleaned separately.
- Exterior Cleaning: The exterior can be cleaned with water and detergent. Harsh abrasive cleaners should be avoided to prevent scratches and damage to the surface finish. A soft cloth should be used to wipe the urn body dry.
- Emptying and Rinsing: Always empty and rinse the urn with hot water before using it again.
- Heating Element Cleaning: When using tap water, it is important to clean the bottom heating element and the sides of the unit every two weeks to prevent mineral buildup.
- De-scaling: In hard water areas, scale will accumulate on the element and interior, which can adversely affect performance. To remove calcium deposits, boil water with vinegar or lemon juice. Alternatively, a suitable de-scaler recommended for stainless steel kettles can be used, following the product's instructions. Damage caused by calcium deposits is not covered under warranty.
- Storage: Before storing, ensure all parts are clean and dry. The appliance should be stored in its original box or a clean, dry place. Never store the unit while it is hot or wet.
- Submersion Warning: The base unit or power cord should NEVER be submerged in water or any other liquid, as this can damage the unit. If the machine has been soaked, it must be dried and checked by a specialist before further use.
