Why is there a sudden drop in gas flow or reduced flame height in my Mainstays MS44-305-004-01?
    • B
      bennettrobertAug 7, 2025
A sudden drop in gas flow or reduced flame height in your Mainstays Outdoor Fireplace can happen if you're out of gas; in that case, exchange, refill, or replace the LP gas tank. Another potential cause is that the excess flow safety device may have been activated. To resolve this, turn the control knob to 'OFF,' wait 30 seconds, and light the outdoor fireplace. If the flames are still too low, reset the overfilling prevention device by turning the control knob 'OFF,' closing the LP gas tank valve, disconnecting the regulator, turning the control knob to (HIGH), waiting one minute, turning the control knob to 'OFF,' reconnecting the regulator, leak checking the connections (being careful not to fully open the valve), and then lighting the outdoor fireplace.

What to do if Mainstays MS44-305-004-01 flame loses heat in cold weather?
    • J
      Jonathan BakerAug 11, 2025
If the flame seems to lose heat when burning in cold weather (below 50ºF) on your Mainstays Outdoor Fireplace, ice may have built up on the outside of the LP gas tank because the vaporization process is too slow. To fix this, turn the LP gas tank valve to 'CLOSED,' turn the control knob to 'OFF,' replace the LP gas tank with a spare, reconnect the LP gas tank, check for leaks, and light the outdoor fireplace.

Why is the flame pattern irregular on my Mainstays Outdoor Fireplace?
    • W
      William HughesAug 16, 2025
An irregular flame pattern where the flame does not run the full length of the burner on your Mainstays Outdoor Fireplace is usually caused by clogged or blocked burner ports. Cleaning the burner ports should resolve this issue.

Why is the flame yellow or orange on my Mainstays Outdoor Fireplace?
    • W
      Wendy HallAug 19, 2025
If the flame on your Mainstays Outdoor Fireplace is yellow or orange, it could be due to a few reasons. If it's a new burner, it may have residual manufacturing oils; try burning the outdoor fireplace for 15 minutes and then re-inspecting the flame. Another cause could be spider webs or insect nests in the burner/venturi tube, which would require cleaning. Lastly, poor alignment of the valve to the burner/venturi tube can cause this issue; ensure the burner/venturi tube is properly engaged with the valve.

What causes flashback in Mainstays MS44-305-004-01 Outdoor Fireplace?
    • E
      Elizabeth MannAug 25, 2025
If your Mainstays Outdoor Fireplace experiences flashback (fire in the venturi/burner tube(s)), it's likely because the burner and/or burner/venturi tube is blocked. Cleaning the burner and/or burner/venturi tube should resolve this issue.

What to do if Mainstays MS44-305-004-01 flame goes out?
    • D
      Deanna ShieldsAug 28, 2025
The flame on your Mainstays Outdoor Fireplace might go out due to high or gusting winds; avoid using the outdoor fireplace in such conditions. It could also be due to low LP gas, so exchange, refill, or replace the LP gas tank. Finally, the excess flow valve might have tripped; refer to 'Sudden drop in gas flow or reduced flame height' for troubleshooting steps.

How to fix Mainstays Outdoor Fireplace burner that will not light with match?
    • S
      Shelby SmithNov 1, 2025
If the burner on your Mainstays Outdoor Fireplace won't light with a match, several issues could be the cause. First, ensure the LP gas tank valve is open and the regulator is securely attached. If there's no gas flow, check if the LP gas tank is empty and refill or replace if needed. Also, check for any LP gas leaks. If you detect a leak, turn the LP gas tank valve to 'CLOSED,' wait 5 minutes, and follow the 'Checking for Leaks' instructions. Make sure the coupling nut and regulator are fully connected, tightening by hand only. Clear any obstructions in the burner/venturi tube and check for bent or kinked hoses. Ensure the burner is properly engaged with the valve, and clean the burner/venturi tube to remove any spider webs or insect nests. Finally, make sure that burner ports are not clo...
