Overview

This document is an instruction manual for the Makita Recipro Saw, model JR3061T. It provides comprehensive information on the tool's specifications, safety warnings, functional description, assembly, operation, and maintenance, along with a list of optional accessories.

Function Description

The Makita Recipro Saw JR3061T is a double-insulated power tool designed for sawing wood, plastic, metal, and various building materials. It is suitable for both straight and curved cutting tasks, offering strong impact for efficient material removal. The tool operates on a single-phase AC supply with the same voltage as indicated on its nameplate. Its double insulation allows for use with sockets without an earth wire.

A key functional aspect is the adjustable shoe, which can be repositioned in five levels. This feature allows the user to utilize different, unused portions of the recipro saw blade's cutting edge as it loses efficiency in one area, thereby extending the blade's lifespan. The shoe adjusting lever must be fully opened to adjust the shoe position. It's important not to force the shoe adjusting lever if the shoe is extended beyond the "MAX" marking, as this could lead to lever breakage.

The tool also features a front lamp to illuminate the workpiece, which turns on when the switch trigger is pulled and off when released. Users are cautioned not to look directly into the light source.

Usage Features

The Recipro Saw JR3061T is designed for ease of use and operator comfort, especially during extended operation. The switch trigger controls the tool's speed, with increased pressure resulting in higher speed. For continuous operation, the switch trigger can be pulled and then locked into the "ON" position using the lock button. To stop the tool from the locked position, the switch trigger must be pulled fully and then released. Users are warned to return the switch trigger to the "OFF" position in case of accidental unplugging or power cuts to prevent sudden restarts and potential injury.

For hanging the tool temporarily, a convenient hook is provided. The hook can be lifted into an open position until it snaps, and lowered into a closed position when not in use. Users are cautioned against hanging the tool at high or unstable locations, or on their belt or other accessories, to avoid personal injury or contact with the recipro saw blade.

When operating, it is crucial to hold the tool firmly with one hand on the insulation cover and the other on the switch handle. The shoe must be pressed firmly against the workpiece during operation to prevent strong vibration, twisting, and dangerous blade snapping. When cutting metal, a suitable coolant (cutting oil) should always be used to prevent premature blade wear, and users should wear gloves to protect against hot flying chips. It is also advised to make a pilot groove at a slower speed before continuing to cut at a faster speed. The tool should not be operated at no-load unnecessarily.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is essential for ensuring the safety and reliability of the Recipro Saw JR3061T. Before performing any inspection or maintenance, the tool must always be switched off and unplugged. Users are explicitly warned against using gasoline, benzine, thinner, alcohol, or similar substances, as these can cause discoloration, deformation, or cracks.

Installing or Removing the Recipro Saw Blade: Before installing or removing the blade, ensure the tool is switched off and unplugged. It is critical to clean out all chips or foreign matter adhering to the blade and around the blade clamp, as insufficient tightening can lead to serious injury. To install the blade, the blade clamp lever (part of the blade clamp sleeve) must be in the released position. The recipro saw blade should be inserted as far as it will go into the blade clamp. The blade clamp sleeve will then rotate and fix the blade. Users must ensure the blade cannot be extracted by pulling it. If the blade is not inserted deep enough, it may be ejected unexpectedly during operation, posing extreme danger. To remove the blade, rotate the blade clamp lever fully in the direction of the arrow. The blade clamp lever will then be fixed in the released position. Hands and fingers should be kept away from the lever during this operation to prevent injuries. If the blade clamp lever is positioned inside the tool, switching on the tool for a second can help bring the blade out before unplugging and proceeding with installation or removal.

Replacing Carbon Brushes: The carbon brushes should be checked regularly and replaced when they wear down to the limit mark. Both carbon brushes should be replaced simultaneously with identical carbon brushes. To replace them, use a screwdriver to remove the brush holder caps, take out the worn brushes, insert the new ones, and secure the caps. Keeping the carbon brushes clean and free to slip in their holders is important for optimal performance.

All repairs, maintenance, or adjustments should be performed by Makita Authorized or Factory Service Centers using genuine Makita replacement parts to maintain product safety and reliability.
