Why won't my Makita Lawn Mower start?
- RRobert DuncanAug 8, 2025
Your Makita Lawn Mower might not start due to several reasons. The throttle choke may not be in the correct position, so try adjusting it. The fuel tank could be empty, requiring a refill. A dirty air cleaner element can also prevent starting, so clean it. Other potential causes include a loose spark plug (tighten to 25-30 Nm), a disconnected spark plug wire (reinstall it), an incorrect spark plug gap (set it to 0.7 to 0.8 mm), or a defective spark plug (replace it). If the carburetor is flooded, remove the air cleaner element and pull the starter rope until it clears. Finally, a faulty ignition module could be the issue, in which case you should contact a service agent.
