For shallow depth of field
In close- up pho t ography , one area of the s ubjec t can be hi ghlighted
or emphasized , throwing the other areas out of focus by using the back
mount swing .
Swing or tilt the back mount in the opposite direction utilized to
obtain additional depth of field .

For perspective rendition
Mamiya Press Super 23 can correct
the converging I ines of per spec ti ves (con-
trols the contour of the image on the
film) to some degree .
While observing the s ubj E"c t on the
focusing screen, swing or ti lt the back
mount in parallel with the subject being
photographed, adjust the per s pect i ve ,
focus
on the most important par t of the
subject and turn the aperture c ontrol
lever unti I the aperture cover s the s ubject
in the depth of field .
By retracting the lens-shutter as se m bly
of the 100mm f 3.5 lens, a sl ight per-
s pective rendition can be achi eved on
the subject even at further than medium
distance . In this case, depth of field
can be controlled only . by the aperture
setting .
* Perspective rendition can be achieved
with a 65mm lens on a subject only
at close range . Using other long
focal length lenses which do not
retract, perspective rendition cannot
be achieved on the subject further than
medium distance .
