Note: Some cleaning products may make vinyl flooring slippery,
during cleaning or afterward. When using unfamiliar products, test
them carefully to reduce the likelihood of slips and falls.
Over time, the plywood subflooring on your Manitou may lift slightly at
its seams. If a small ridge in your vinyl flooring becomes noticeable, it
will not affect the integrity or longevity of your flooring.
Luna Flooring
Your Manitou may have Compass HB Luna flooring, a product of
Spradling International. This flooring is a hybrid material that mixes both
PVC and carpet yarns to make a highly durable surface well-suited to
marine environments.
Caring for Luna flooring is similar to caring for other types of marine
carpet. Regularly remove soil and debris by vacuuming or hosing off the
flooring. If a deeper cleaning is needed, standard carpet cleaning
products may be used. Do not use acetone, Pine-Sol
®
, or citrus-based
cleaners on your Luna flooring.
Carpets
Your Manitou’s carpets, engineered by Shaw Marine Carpets, are
designed to provide a long useful life in the tough marine environment.
It is important to note that sand and other rough particles in your carpet
cause abrasion and will result in premature wear. You must keep all
carpets clean and dry in order to maintain their appearance and
performance levels.
Carpets can be kept dirt-free through regular sweeping and vacuuming.
An air blower may also be used.
Your boat’s carpet may also be rinsed with water or deep-cleaned with a
suitable carpet cleaner. Carpets that are kept clean and dry do not readily
support mold growth. Therefore, to avoid problems with mold, be sure
that you remove all excess water from your carpets after they have been
