A good distance for recording voice in your interview will be about 1-3 ft. from the source.
The mic is directional, which means it captures sound best when you point it directly at the
sound source (directly at one’s mouth, for instance).
Tips for using the external microphone
When recording with only one
microphone, the cable from the
mic should be inserted into the
MONO (left) jack.
When recording to MP3 format using the external mic, be sure to check that you have set
the recorder to Preset 2, or else the recorder will not use the external mic.
Check the recording levels with
the meters located on the end of
the recorder next to the REC
LEVEL controls. You will want
the meters to move between the
middle and close to the right
end, but not into the OVER level.
