Construct framing using specified dimensions. Add raise height if using a platform.
Assemble chimney sections. Install firestop spacers where chimney penetrates floors/joists.
Install roof joist shield, flashing, and storm collar for a watertight system.
Use combinations of pipe lengths. Secure elbows with 3 screws per joint.
Use plywood thermal break or silicone caulk. Avoid insulation contact with fireplace.
Install gas line before finishing fireplace. Use iron pipe, 1/2". Connect to appliance.
Connect decorative appliance with auto shutoff. Set damper open. Test for gas leaks.
Protect combustible floor with extension. Min 16" deep, 51" wide. Use non-combustible material.
Operate damper correctly. Use fireplace grate properly. Open outside air control.
