4.6 CHANGING THE
BATTERIES
To
obtain access
to
the battery compartment,
release
the
two
slotted
screws
securing the
carrying
handle
and
ease back
the
upper
half
of
the
inst rument case,
Remove
the battery
cover
by
pressing
firmly
downwards and
sliding
it towards
the
front
of
the
instrument.
The cover
will
then
spring
upwards to
expose
the battery
compartment.
Two 9
V
batteries
are
required;
for details
of
suitable
types
see
page 7.
Remove
the two
batteries
from
the
hole
in the
foam
rubber
and
disconnect
them from
the
two
press
stud
connector
strips.
Press
the
stud
connector
strips
into position
on
the
replacement
batteries
before
placing
them
into the
hole in
the
foam
rubber.
Replace
the
battery
cover
by
fitting
it
into position
and
pressing
firmly
down-
wards
while
sliding
it
to
the
back
of
the
instrument.
Position
the
upper half
of
the
instrument
case
and
secure
the
carrying
handle
using
the
two screws
prev iously
removed.
To
prolong
the
battery
life,
remove
them from
the
instrument
during
winter
storage.
