Overview

The markilux 779 tracfix / 879 tracfix is an awning system designed for sun protection, with optional lighting features and various operational modes. It is a custom-produced product, identifiable by a unique fabrication number.

Function Description:

The markilux 779 tracfix / 879 tracfix awning serves primarily as a sun protection construction. It can be operated manually or with a motor, and features an optional "shadeplus" extension for additional shading. The tracfix system ensures a gap-free cover guide. Optional lighting elements, such as LED spotlights and LED lines, can be integrated into the guide rails, cover support tube, or cover cassette to enhance usability during evening hours.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Awning Type: markilux 779 tracfix / 879 tracfix.
  • Drive Options: Manual operation (crank rod) or motorised operation (radio-controlled, io or RTS systems).
  • Wind Resistance Classes: The awning meets specific wind resistance classes, with maximum wind speeds ranging from <28 km/h (Class 0) to 49 km/h (Class 3), depending on the model and size. For instance, markilux 620 tracfix, 770/870, 7800/8800 are Class 3, while markilux 625 tracfix, 776/876, 779/879 can be Class 2 or 3 depending on size.
  • Inclination: If the awning inclination is less than 25% (14° measured at the horizontal) or not fully extended, it must not be burdened by rainwater to prevent water troughs and potential damage.
  • Safety Distances: A minimum safety distance of 50 cm must be observed in the awning extension area to prevent crushing hazards.
  • Electrical Specifications (Lighting): LED lighting operates on mains leads (230 V). For safety, connections should be protected by an RCCB (30mA). Electronic transformers for lighting switch off automatically at 80°C and after a cooling-down phase. Integrated timers switch off spotlights automatically (IO home control: 6 hours; Somfy technology: 24 hours). The radiation intensity of LED lamps is harmless (RG 2 area acc. EN 62471).
  • Materials: The awning cover is made of materials with specific properties, including colorfastness and resistance to environmental influences. Metallic and pearl glimmer coatings on the frame may show slight variations in appearance.

Usage Features:

  • Manual Operation: Involves inserting a crank rod into a gear adapter and turning it clockwise for retraction or anti-clockwise for extension. The direction of rotation depends on the gear eyelet's position (right or left). The crank rod must be removed after use and secured against uncontrolled movement.
  • Motorised Operation: Utilises markilux hand-held remote controls (io 868 MHz or RTS 433 MHz) with UP, STOP, DOWN buttons, scroll wheel, channel selection, AUTO/MANU switch, and PROG button. The end stops for extension/retraction are set by a specialist dealer.
  • Shadeplus: An optional vertical awning extension. It must always be retracted before the main awning. Caution is advised in windy conditions, and it should be retracted immediately if it gets windy.
  • Automatic Control Systems: Enhance comfort but do not replace the duty of care. Automatic functions should be switched off during absences, approaching storms, or freezing wetness.
  • Lighting Options:
    • markilux 879 / 879 tracfix: Pivotable LED spotlights in the cover support tube (12), LED line in the guide rails (10), and LED line in the cover support tube (11). An additional E-Box (9) is required for LED-Line lighting in the guide rails without a cover support tube.
    • markilux 779 / 779 tracfix: Pivotable LED spotlights in the cover support tube and/or cover cassette (12), LED line in the guide rails (10), LED line in the cover support tube (11), and LED line in the cover cassette (13). An additional E-Box (9) is required for LED-Line lighting in the guide rails without a cover support tube.
  • Emergency Power: For motor-driven awnings in windy areas with frequent power cuts, an emergency power supply should be considered.
  • Modification/Retrofitting: Replacement of the awning cover, installation of a motor, or retrofitting an automatic control system (e.g., solar and wind sensors, remote control) can be performed by a markilux specialist.

Maintenance Features:

  • Regular Checks: The awning should be checked regularly for signs of wear or damage to the covering, frame, fixtures, and electrical connections. An annual visual inspection and servicing by a markilux specialist dealer are recommended.
  • Cleaning Guide Tracks: Accumulations of dirt in the lateral guide tracks can cause noise during retraction and extension. Regular cleaning and polishing of contact surfaces and the track area with commercially available household detergents (pH 5-8) are recommended. Abrasive materials are not allowed.
  • Cover Cleaning: The need for cleaning depends on environmental influences. Regular cleansing is recommended. If the awning must be retracted wet, it should be extended as soon as possible to dry to prevent deflection.
  • Obstacle Removal: Foliage, snow, and other foreign objects on the cover, inside the box, or in the guide bars must be removed immediately to prevent damage or collapse. Snow accumulation behind the awning should be prevented with a snow guard or regular removal.
  • Motor Overheating Protection: Multiple rapid extensions/retractions can cause the motor to switch off automatically to prevent overheating. It will restart after cooling down.
  • LED Spot Replacement: Defective LED spotlights can be replaced by the user. This involves loosening a hexagon nut, turning the spotlight 90° to align the pincher carriage with the groove, pulling it out, disconnecting the plug, plugging in the new spotlight, inserting it, turning 90° clockwise, and retightening the nut.
  • LED Line Repair: Repair and maintenance of LED lines, damaged flexible lines, or other electrical components must be carried out exclusively by a specialist dealer.
  • Safety During Maintenance: When working near the awning, ensure it is currentless (e.g., power switch off, plug removed). For manual units, the crank should be removed and stored safely.
  • Disassembly and Disposal: Disassembly must only be performed by a markilux specialist company. Packaging materials are recyclable. Electrical units and batteries must be disposed of according to applicable legal regulations at designated collection points.
