The Gen II Entree Bath is a sophisticated hydromassage bathtub designed for patient care, offering a range of features for safe and comfortable bathing. This device is intended for use by trained adult supervision, particularly for children and impaired individuals, to prevent accidental injury or drowning. It is crucial to exercise care when entering or exiting the bathtub to avoid injury. The use of drugs or alcohol before or during operation is strictly prohibited to prevent unconsciousness and potential drowning. Pregnant or possibly pregnant women should consult a physician before use due to the risk of fetal injury. The bathtub should not be used immediately following strenuous exercise due to the risk of hyperthermia and possible drowning.
For electrical safety, the device must be properly grounded by a licensed electrician in accordance with local, state, and federal codes. Electrical appliances such as hair dryers, lamps, telephones, radios, or televisions should not be permitted within 5 feet (1.5m) of the hydromassage bathtub to prevent electrical shock. The ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) protecting this appliance must be tested periodically as per the manufacturer's instructions. For permanently connected units, a green-colored terminal or wire connector (marked "g", "gr", "ground", or "grounding") is provided within the terminal compartment. This terminal or connector must be connected to the grounding terminal of the electric service or supply panel with a conductor equivalent in size to the circuit conductors supplying the equipment, to reduce the risk of electric shock. Water temperature in excess of 110° F (43° C) may be hazardous to health, so users must check and adjust the water temperature before use. Individuals using medications or having an adverse medical history should consult a physician before using the hydromassage bathtub due to the risk of hyperthermia.
The Gen II Entree Bath features several operating controls. Plumbing controls include a mixing valve, tub fill and shower spray control valves, and a solar-powered LCD thermometer. The mixing valve adjusts the temperature of mixed water to the shower wand and tub fill spigot, with counter-clockwise for hotter and clockwise for colder water. The accuracy of the mixed water temperature must be checked periodically per facility protocol. The tub fill and shower spray control valves turn ON/OFF and control the flow of mixed water to the tub fill spigot and shower wand. The solar-powered thermometer provides a digital readout of the mixed water temperature.
The foot-end control panel includes an emergency door open button, a BathAire (SM) control panel, and door open/close buttons. In an emergency, holding both the emergency door open button and the door open button simultaneously will override the drain water sensors and open the door. To open the door normally, press and hold the door open button until the door comes to a complete stop. To close the door, press and hold the transmitter close button until it comes to a complete stop. It is important to check for obstructions in the sensors, such as wet washcloths or feet, as the door will not open if drain sensors detect water in the tub unless the emergency door open button is also pressed. The door must come to a complete stop to properly seal the tub, as failure to do so may result in leaks. Thumb screws hold the service panel in place and should only be removed by authorized service personnel for service access.
The BathAire (SM) variable speed system control offers an on/off button, more/less air/heat buttons, and a wave button. The BathAire (SM) can be turned on or off by pressing its on/off button. When on, it operates at 60% of full volume. Air volume and heat level can be increased or decreased by pressing and holding the more or less air/heat buttons. The wave mode can be activated by pressing the wave button once for a long cycle, a second time for a short cycle, and a third time to return to normal operation, automatically increasing and decreasing air volume. The purge cycle automatically activates for one minute 20 minutes after the BathAire (SM) system is turned off, and also cycles every 24 hours. The BathAire (SM) system has an internal timer that automatically shuts it off after twenty minutes of operation.
For aromatherapy, a selected scent sachet or canister can be placed in the aromatherapy holder, and the access cap must be securely closed before turning on BathAire (SM). It is crucial NOT to remove beads from the sachet or place liquids in the holder. Running the BathAire (SM) without the access cap securely in place will cause the system to lose air and impair aerator function. If a sachet does not fit easily, slowly slide the zip tie up the sachet to make it more elongated, but do NOT remove the zip tie.
Comfort pads are attached using suction cups. Ensure the suction cups are clean and wet them before attachment for better adherence. Arrange two rectangular pads parallel on the seat and one horizontally on the seat back in the lumbar area, pressing firmly to remove air from the suction cups. To remove pads, reach under the pad and grasp with both hands, gently pulling up on one side until all cups release. Avoid pulling up on the pad by grasping it on the outside and using a quick jerking motion, as this may damage the pad.
For individuals requiring additional security, a security belt and pad can be used. Thread the security belt through the belt slots on the belt pad, centering it on the individual's chest. Connect the belt ends to the security belt knob by looping one of the holes over the knob so the belt pad is snug.
Cleaning procedures involve turning on BathAire (SM), closing the door, opening the drain, and rinsing all inside surfaces and the seal area with the shower wand to remove residual organic materials. Close the drain, fill the footwell with approximately one gallon of water, and dispense 2 oz (16 pumps) of MasterCare's Disinfectant cleaner. Use the long handled tub brush to scrub inside surfaces, comfort pads, and belt, and the seal brush for the seal area. Leave the disinfectant on for a minimum of 10 minutes. Open the drain, rinse all surfaces and the seal area with clean water from the shower wand at full pressure, then turn off BathAire (SM). Open the door fully and allow all cleaned surfaces to dry naturally. Clean comfort pads can be placed in the footwell to dry.
The BathAire (SM) purge cycle will automatically turn on after the bath has been idle for twenty minutes and run for one minute to help dry the area around the aerators. All Disinfectant Cleaner, Bath Oil, and Shampoo solutions must be stored in a secure area not accessible by patients when not in use. It is recommended to establish a two-person bathing team for each shift, with one member transferring individuals and the other operating the bathing system. An operations wall chart should be posted next to the control end of the tub for quick reference.
For lift/transfer devices, push down on the door open button to fully open the door. Remove the kick panel by removing the two thumb screws at either end. The clearance distance under the tub when the kick plate is removed is 3.5 inches. Do not use equipment with bases equal to or greater than 3.5 inches, as this may damage the tub.
In emergency open/close door procedures, if a medical emergency requires opening the door before the tub is empty, hold both the emergency door open button and the door open button simultaneously to override drain water sensors. In case of power failure or door actuator system failure, first check if there is water in the drain. If there is water, the drain sensors will deactivate the door open button. In most cases, the door can be opened with the yellow-handled 5/16" ball end Allen wrench driver. Remove the emergency door open/close access panel by removing the two thumb screws. Locate the Allen wrench nested in a hole under the access panel. Engage the wrench through the open hole in the tub deck into the socket at the top of the actuator screw shaft. Turn the handle clockwise to lower the door. Replace the Allen wrench and access panel when power is restored.
All MasterCare bathing systems are equipped with onboard GFCIs. In case of a power surge, the GFCI can be accessed and reset. The reset button trips and shuts down all power during a power surge, outage, faulty outlet, or lightning strike. It can be pushed to restore power after a qualified individual deems it safe. The test button ensures the GFCI is working properly. A self-testing GFCI will trip when the unit is plugged in and must be reset.
