Overview

The MAXIMA MST-M0511 is a steam cooker designed for healthy and convenient food preparation. It allows users to cook a variety of foods using steam, which helps retain more vitamins and natural flavors compared to traditional boiling.

Function Description

The steam cooker operates by generating steam from water in its reservoir, which then cooks food placed in the steam baskets. This method of cooking is particularly beneficial for preparing dietary and baby food, as it eliminates the need for added salt, seasonings, or oil, and helps preserve the original appearance and taste of ingredients. The device features a timer for setting cooking duration and a light indicator to show operation status. It includes two steam baskets, allowing for multi-level cooking, and a dedicated bowl for cooking rice.

Maintenance Features

Cleaning:

  1. Always unplug the appliance from the mains before cleaning.
  2. All detachable parts (steam baskets, connecting ring, lid, rice bowl) can be washed in a dishwasher or by hand with household dishwashing liquid.
  3. The perforated bottom of the steam baskets is best cleaned with a soft-bristled brush.
  4. The base unit (5) should only be wiped with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaning agents, including metal scourers or soda.

Removal of Scum:

  1. After several uses (depending on water hardness), a layer of scale may form on the heating element. This needs to be removed.
  2. To descale, pour 2 glasses of 5% vinegar into the water reservoir and add water up to the maximum level, ensuring the vinegar solution fully covers the heating element.
  3. Place one steam basket and the lid on the appliance, then switch on the steam cooker for 10 minutes.
  4. If scale is still visible after this time, set an additional cooking time.
  5. Once the appliance and vinegar solution have cooled sufficiently, drain the vinegar and rinse the water reservoir several times.

Troubleshooting:

  • "Gurgling" sound during cooking: This is normal and is caused by steam release when cooking frozen products.
  • Appliance turns off during operation: The automatic shut-off system has activated due to insufficient water. Disconnect the steam cooker, add water up to the minimum mark, and resume operation.
  • Foreign smell during operation: A protective coating was applied to some parts of the appliance. The smell will disappear over time.

Safety Measures

  • Ensure mains voltage matches the appliance's rated voltage.
  • Use an extension cord only if it is rated for the appliance's power consumption.
  • Always disconnect the appliance by pulling the plug, not the cord, with dry hands.
  • Disconnect from the socket after use, during cleaning, or when moving.
  • Do not route the power cord near sharp edges, heat sources, or immerse the appliance, cord, or plug in water.
  • Keep children away from the appliance and packaging materials.
  • Do not leave the appliance unattended when switched on.
  • Do not use outdoors.
  • The appliance must be grounded; connect only to grounded sockets.
  • Do not touch hot surfaces (steam cooker, hot water, steam, food, heating element) during or after operation. Use oven mitts to handle hot parts.
  • Do not move the steam cooker when filled with hot liquid or food.
  • Do not attempt unauthorized repairs or modifications. All maintenance and repair work should be performed by an authorized service center.
