  3. Above the kindling, place a layer of dry seasoned hardwood cut to lengths no more than 3/4 the diameter of the bowl.
  4. Use a match to light the kindling or firestarter.
  5. Once the kindling or firestarter is lit, use the poker (I) and heat-resistant gloves to replace the spark guard (Mesh Lid F).

Tending the Fire:

  • Logs may need to be shifted or added for an ideal experience.
  • CAUTION: DO NOT place a hot spark guard or hot fire bowl tools onto combustible surfaces (e.g., grass, wooden deck, furniture).
  • To tend the fire, use a hook and heat-resistant gloves to carefully remove the spark guard.
  • Use a long-handled fire pit tool to shift coals and logs to allow additional airflow.
  • DO NOT add gasoline, kerosene, diesel fuel, lighter fluid, or alcohol to relight or enhance an existing fire.
  • Wait until glowing coals have developed before adding additional wood. If more wood is needed, place it on top of the coals, being careful not to shift ashes.
  • After adding wood, use the hook and heat-resistant gloves to replace the spark guard.

Extinguishing:

  1. Allow the fire to burn itself out completely.
  2. DO NOT use water to extinguish the fire, as this is dangerous and can damage the outdoor fire pit.
