Overview

The Maxkon Rainbow 2000 & 2500 are ceiling or wall-mounted infrared heaters designed for both indoor and outdoor use. These heaters provide mediumwave infrared heat, characterized by a strong central beam that dissipates to a gentler intensity heated area. They are suitable for a variety of applications, from large indoor areas subject to airflow like workshops and loading bays (lower intensity heat) to cold, draughty indoor public areas such as halls and reception areas (medium intensity heat), and even sheltered outdoor or draughty indoor areas (higher intensity heat).

Function Description:

The primary function of the Maxkon Rainbow heaters is to provide warmth through infrared radiation. They are operated via a remote control, allowing users to adjust heat levels and set a timer. The heaters incorporate a tip-over function that cuts power if the unit detects an angle greater than 45 degrees, enhancing safety. They are designed for heating people in unenclosed spaces, either outdoors or indoors.

Usage Features:

  • Mounting: Designed for ceiling or wall mounting. Swivel brackets are provided to allow fitting with adequate clearances.
  • Recommended Installation Height: 2.4m to 3.5m (95”-138”) from the floor. Not to be installed below 1.8m (71”). If an automated on/off controller is used, do not mount below 2.4m.
  • Clearances: Sides and ends of the heater must always be at least 500mm (19.6”) away from the nearest wall, ceiling, or other structure.
  • Remote Control Operation:
    • Power Button: Turns heater on or off.
    • Up/Down Buttons: Increase/decrease heat level and timer hours.
    • Level Button: Adjusts heat levels from L1 (minimum) to L4 (maximum) in 25% increments.
    • Timer Button: Sets the timer from 00 to 24 hours.
  • Multi-Heater Control: All remote controls operate on the same frequency, allowing a single remote to control multiple heaters.
  • Working Time Limitation: End users can set up a running procedure within a week (7 days).
  • Water Ingress Protection (IP55): Allows for outdoor installation and exposure to occasional rainfall. However, for prolonged life, installation in a sheltered position is recommended. Installation in wet or humid rooms must be carried out by a qualified installer, ensuring the heater cannot fall into water and controls are out of reach from a bath or shower.
  • Electrical Connections: Must be made outside the heater's footprint to avoid heat build-up. If mounted on an incline, the electrical connection should be below the lowest end of the heater. Exposed flexible cables must hang down and have adequate clearance from the heater.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning: The heater can be wiped down with a soft damp cloth. Abrasive detergents should not be used. In marine environments, it can be gently sprayed clean with water (POWER TURNED OFF and completely cool). After cleaning, it is advisable to warm the heater for 10-20 minutes to dry it and prevent staining.
  • Lamp Replacement: The carbon heating lamp has an ultra-long life of 10,000 hours. Replacement should only be carried out by suitably qualified personnel using instructions available on Herschel's website.
  • Troubleshooting:
    • E1 Error on Display: Indicates control unit overheat. Check installation clearances, let the heater cool for 15 minutes, and restart.
    • L1, L2, L3, L4 on Display but no heat: Indicates a damaged bulb. Arrange for a replacement bulb with a local dealer.
  • Recycling: At the end of its useful life, the product should be recycled where facilities exist, not disposed of with household waste. Consult local authority or retailer for recycling advice.

Safety Precautions:

  • Fragile Glass Lamp: Handle with care.
  • Disconnect from power source during installation or service.
  • Do not use below 2.4m with automated on/off devices.
  • Do not use near baths, showers, or swimming pools when mounted on a stand.
  • Do not cover the heater to avoid overheating.
  • Do not install pointing directly downwards; maintain at least 500mm from ceiling or other objects.
  • Do not touch when in use; allow to cool completely after switching off.
  • Do not use if the power cord is damaged; it must be replaced by the manufacturer or a qualified person.
  • Do not use to ignite materials.
