Overview

The MAXXTOW Motorcycle Wheel Chock and Stand, Model 70271, is a robust and versatile device designed to securely hold motorcycles for storage, maintenance, or transport. It is constructed from formed steel with carbon steel hardware, ensuring durability and strength for long-haul use.

Function Description:

The primary function of the Motorcycle Wheel Chock and Stand is to stabilize a motorcycle by securely gripping its front wheel, preventing it from tipping over. This allows for hands-free maintenance, safe storage in a garage, or secure transport in a truck bed or trailer. The device features a Wheel Cradle (1) and a pivoting Wheel Bracket (2) that work in conjunction to accommodate various motorcycle wheel sizes. When a motorcycle is rolled into the chock, the Wheel Bracket pivots upward, locking the wheel in place. For transport, additional tie-downs or straps (not included) are recommended to further secure the motorcycle.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Material Composition: Formed Steel with Carbon Steel Hardware. This material choice ensures high strength and resistance to wear and tear, suitable for supporting heavy motorcycles.
  • Wheel Cradle: Adjustable to 6 positions for different wheel sizes. This adjustability is a key feature, allowing the chock to be customized for a wide range of motorcycles.
  • Weight Capacity: 1,800 Lbs. This specification indicates the maximum weight of a motorcycle the chock can safely support. Exceeding this limit can lead to personal injury, property damage, and damage to the wheel chock itself.
  • Wheel Size Compatibility: 15" to 22" Diameter. This range covers most standard motorcycle front wheel diameters.
  • Tire Tread Width Range: 3" to 5" Wide. This refers to the part of the tire that contacts the ground and fits into the Wheel Bracket (2). It's important to ensure the motorcycle's tire falls within this range for proper fit and security.
  • Mounting: The Wheel Chock must be securely mounted to a level, solid surface, such as a concrete floor or a truck bed. Mounting hardware (concrete anchor bolts for concrete, appropriate hardware for truck beds) is not included and must be purchased separately. The Stand Base (3) has mounting holes that serve as a template for installation.

Usage Features:

  • Adjustable Wheel Cradle: The Wheel Cradle (1) can be moved forward or backward to achieve the best fit for the motorcycle's front wheel. This adjustability ensures that the wheel is optimally locked in place when the Wheel Bracket pivots up.
  • Loading and Unloading: To load a motorcycle, the rider should dismount and slowly roll the motorcycle into the Stand. An assistant is recommended for this task. As the wheel rolls in, the pivoting Wheel Bracket (2) will automatically pivot and close, securing the motorcycle. To release, any additional stability supports (straps/belts) should be removed first, and then the motorcycle should be slowly rolled backward out of the chock, ideally with assistance.
  • Mounting Versatility: The chock can be mounted to a concrete floor for garage storage or maintenance, or to a truck bed for transportation. Careful planning of the mounting location is crucial to avoid obstructions and ensure a solid, level surface.
  • Safety Precautions: The manual emphasizes several safety instructions, including wearing ANSI approved safety goggles, avoiding loose clothing or jewelry, and using common sense. It also warns against "dynamic loading" and exceeding the weight capacity. The product is not designed for aircraft applications.
  • Transportation Guidelines: When transporting a motorcycle in a truck bed, it must be secured with ropes and/or tie-downs (not included). The vehicle's engine must be OFF, and the parking brake set before loading or unloading. A speed limit of 55 MPH is recommended when transporting a motorcycle in a truck bed.

Maintenance Features:

  • Regular Inspections: Users are advised to frequently check the condition of the Motorcycle Wheel Chock. This includes inspecting for loose hardware, cracks, damaged parts, or any weld damage.
  • Damage Replacement: If the Wheel Chock becomes damaged through accident or if any weld damage is noted, the product should be replaced to ensure continued safe operation.
  • Hardware Security: All hardware must be tightly secured in place.
  • Cleanliness: The Wheel Chock should be kept clean to maintain its condition and functionality.
  • Professional Repair: The manual states that some parts are not available as replacement parts, and all repairs to the tool (including replacing parts) should only be done by a qualified service technician. This highlights the importance of professional expertise for any significant repairs to maintain the product's integrity and safety.

The MAXXTOW Motorcycle Wheel Chock and Stand is a practical tool for motorcycle owners, offering a secure and stable solution for various needs, provided that all safety warnings and instructions are carefully followed.
