Table 4-5 Mobile Climate Control SYSTEM PERFORMANCE CHART
Determine the approximate refrigerant charge using Table 4-1, Table 4-2 or Table 4-3 .
Use the following table to determine if the correct charge has been obtained.
Table Procedure Your Entry Example
Pressure Refrigerant Temp.
1. Connect Manifold Gauge Set To
Air Conditioning System
NONE NONE
PSIG R-12 R134a
(A) (B) (C)
95 87 85
2. Measure outside (ambient) air
temperature.
Enter here ----------->
_____Degrees F 100 Degrees F
100 90 88
105 93 90
110 96 93
115 99 96
120 102 98
3. Add 40 degrees F to the outside
(ambient) air temperature --->
Note: If using a Micro-channel style con
denser, use 37 degrees F instead of 40. This
is due to the reduced discharge pressure
associated with this type of application.
40 Degrees F
_____Degrees F
40 Degrees F
= 140 Degrees F
125 104 100
130 107 103
135 109 105
140 112 107
145 114 109
4. Find closest refrigerant
temperature in Table
(B or C) and enter here ---->
_____Degrees F 139 Degrees F
150 117 112
155 119 114
160 121 116
165 123 118
170 126 120
5. Going across the Table, find the
corresponding pressure (A) -->
(D)=______ PSI 225 PSI
175 128 122
180 130 123
185 132 125
190 134 127
195 136 129
6. If the Discharge Pressure
(High Side) on gaugers
(With compressor engaged,
engine speed 1200 RPM, and
system operating) is :
Greater than (D) - Reduce refrigerant
by 4 ounce increments.
Less than (D) - Add refrigerant
Wait 10 minutes for system to
stabilize before taking new readings
