Charging 12 V batteries
NB In DC mode the switch for active throttle should be set to the OFF position.
1. Connect the charging cables (B) to the DC outlet (A) on the generator and then to the battery
terminals. NB The DC outlet can be used even when AC is used.
2. Starting the engine.
IMPORTANT!
• Avoid the risk of generating sparks near batteries by rst connecting the charging cables to the
generator and then to the battery. Disconnect the cable from the battery rst.
• Before the charging cables are connected to a battery which are installed in a vehicle, the
vehicle’s earthed battery cable must be disconnected. Connect the vehicle’s earthed battery
cable again after the charging cables have been removed. This eliminates the risk of shorting
and generating sparks if a battery terminal should happen to come into contact with the
vehicle’s body or chassis.
• Try not to start a car engine if the generator is connected to the car battery. This may damage
the generator.
• Connect the positive battery terminal to the positive charging cable. Avoid mixing up the
charging cables as this can cause serious damage to the generator and/or the battery.
• The battery gives o explosive gases. Keep sparks, open ames and cigarettes out of reach.
Make sure there is sucient ventilation when charging.
• The battery contains sulphuric acid (electrolyte). Contact with the skin or the eyes can cause
serious corrosive burns. Wear protective clothing and a face mask.
– If the electrolyte gets on the skin: rinse with water.
