Overview

The T399G-GFB5/T399L-GFB5 Tracker is a versatile device designed for tracking and monitoring, offering a range of functions for various applications. It is particularly useful for customers who are new to the device, providing straightforward configuration and operation, along with basic functionality and Bluetooth testing capabilities.

Function Description

The tracker's primary function is to provide location tracking, leveraging both GPS and GSM signals. It features built-in antennas for both GPS and GSM, ensuring reliable signal reception. The device is equipped with a 3-axis accelerometer, which enables it to detect vibrations and trigger alerts for specific events such as towing, harsh acceleration, and harsh braking. This makes it suitable for vehicle monitoring and security applications.

The T399G-GFB5/T399L-GFB5 Tracker supports multiple digital inputs, which can be configured as positive or negative triggers. These inputs allow for connection to various external sensors or vehicle systems. For instance, input 1 can be connected to a vehicle door trigger signal cable to detect door status, which is particularly useful for monitoring vehicle access. Input 2 can be connected to the vehicle's ACC cable to detect ignition status. Inputs 3 and 4 offer flexibility, allowing them to be configured as either digital inputs (positive or negative trigger) or analog inputs (0-30 V), expanding the device's compatibility with different types of sensors.

The device also includes an output (Output 1) that can be configured for various control functions, such as setting PWM output with adjustable time and pulse width. This output can be connected to an external relay to remotely control vehicle components, like cutting off the fuel cable or engine power supply, enhancing vehicle security and management capabilities.

A 1-Wire port is available, which by default supports connection to iButton readers and other 1-Wire protocol devices. This port can also be reconfigured as a negative input 5 or an open collector output 2, providing additional flexibility for specialized applications. Furthermore, the device offers a 5 V DC output cable, which can be used to power external sensors, such as temperature sensors.

For advanced communication, the RS232 version of the device includes an RS232 serial port, allowing for data transmission and reception through dedicated Tx and Rx cables, along with a ground wire. This feature is crucial for integration with other serial communication devices or systems.

The tracker incorporates LED indicators to provide visual feedback on its status. A green LED indicates the GSM signal status, while a blue LED indicates the GPS signal status. These indicators help users quickly assess the device's operational state.

Usage Features

Operating the T399G-GFB5/T399L-GFB5 Tracker involves a few simple steps. Users begin by accessing the device's interior by loosening six screws and removing the cover. A SIM card is then gently inserted into the card slot with the gold-plated contacts facing down until it clicks into place. Once the red and black cables are connected to a vehicle battery (within the 11.4-90 V input voltage range), the device automatically powers on, and the blue and green LED indicators will start blinking.

The LED indicators provide clear status updates:

  • GPS Indicator (Blue):
    • Blinking every 0.1 seconds: Device is initializing or battery power is low.
    • Blinking 0.1 seconds on and 2.9 seconds off: A GPS signal is received.
    • Blinking 1 second on and 2 seconds off: No GPS signal is received.
  • GSM Indicator (Green):
    • Steady on: A call is coming in or being made.
    • Blinking every 0.1 seconds: Device is initializing.
    • Blinking 0.1 seconds on and 2.9 seconds off: A base station signal is received.
    • Blinking 1 second on and 2 seconds off: No base station signal is received.

For configuration and management, the device connects to a computer via a USB cable. This connection allows for the installation of necessary drivers, such as the STM32 USB driver, which enables the computer to recognize the device as a Virtual COM Port.

The Meitrack Manager software is a key tool for configuring the tracker. After installation and successful connection, the software displays the device's status. Users can configure GPRS parameters, including IP address, port, GPRS interval, and APN settings, to ensure proper communication with tracking platforms.

Bluetooth functionality is a significant feature, offering three modes:

  • Broadcasting mode (default): Used for connecting to the Meitrack Manager app.
  • Scanning mode: The main device detects nearby Bluetooth devices. It switches to broadcasting mode if the ACC is triggered and reverts to scanning mode if the Meitrack Manager app is not connected within one minute.
  • Off: Disables the Bluetooth function entirely.

Bluetooth beacon parameters can be set to generate alerts if a beacon signal is lost for a specified period. Users can also configure outputs to be controlled when beacon signals are lost and choose whether to report Bluetooth data. The MAC address of Bluetooth beacons can be identified and configured within the Meitrack Manager.

Similarly, Bluetooth temperature and humidity sensor parameters can be configured. Alerts can be set for signal loss, and outputs can be triggered based on temperature or humidity thresholds (too high or too low). The device allows for reporting of temperature and humidity data and identification of the sensor's MAC address.

Adding the device to the MS03 tracking platform is straightforward. After logging into the platform, users can add a new tracker by setting parameters such as IMEI, password, tracker name, and model. Once added, the device's information, including data from nearby Bluetooth beacons and temperature/humidity sensors, is displayed on the map. Historical reports for these Bluetooth accessories can also be queried through the platform.

The Meitrack Manager app, supported on Android systems, provides mobile configuration capabilities. After detecting and confirming a tracker, users can access the device configuration page. If a tracker is not detected, connecting the device's white cable to a 12-36 V power cable and the analog device to the ACC ignition cable will switch the device to broadcasting mode for one minute, facilitating detection. Within the app, users can set Bluetooth temperature and humidity sensor parameters, including required temperature/humidity, difference thresholds, and choose to apply these parameters to all connected sensors. Bluetooth beacon parameters can also be configured, including sensitivity settings.

Maintenance Features

The device is designed for ease of maintenance and upgrades. It includes an internal battery (400 mAh) for continuous operation. A dedicated upgrade button allows for manual firmware upgrades, ensuring the device can stay up-to-date with the latest features and improvements.

The robust design, with an operating temperature range of -35°C to 80°C (without battery) or -5°C to 75°C (with high-temperature resistant battery), and an operating humidity range of 5%-95%, ensures reliability in various environmental conditions.

The Meitrack Manager software and app provide comprehensive tools for monitoring device status and configuring parameters, which are essential for ongoing maintenance and troubleshooting. The ability to remotely cut off vehicle fuel or engine power supply via Output 1 also serves as a critical maintenance and security feature.

The inclusion of a CD download card simplifies access to necessary software components like the STM32 USB driver and Meitrack Manager, ensuring users have the tools needed for initial setup and ongoing support.
