4. Clean filter sealing surface on mounting bracket.
5. Coat sealing ring on new filter with clean motor oil.

6. Thread filter onto bracket until the sealing ring contacts bracket.
7. Tighten the fuel filter an additional 2/3 of a turn with a filter wrench.
8. Ensure that the bottom drain cap is securely tightened.
9. Fill the fuel filter. Refer to Filling.
10. Check filter and drain cap for fuel leaks.
11. Start and operate the engine. Check filter connection for fuel leaks. If leaks exist,
recheck filter installation. If leaks continue, stop engine immediately and contact your
authorized Cummins MerCruiser dealer / distributor.
