2. Inspect serpentine belt for proper tension and for the following:
• Excessive wear
• Cracks
NOTE: Minor, transverse cracks (across the belt width) may be acceptable. Longitudinal
cracks (in direction of belt length) that join transverse cracks are NOT acceptable.
• Fraying
• Glazed surfaces
• Proper tension

3. Check the operation of the automatic tensioner and associated components. Move
tensioner pulley in direction of arrow (position a suitable tool on pulley fastener and
rotate). Release and allow to glide back slowly. Tensioner must return to it’s initial
position.
