Why is the weld seam brittle or porous on my Metabo WIG 170 AC Welding System?

If the Metabo Welding System produces a brittle or porous weld seam, several factors could be at play. First, ensure the gas valve is open and the gas cylinder isn't empty—open the gas valve or replace the cylinder as needed. Check for the use of a suitable shielding gas and ensure all gas line connections are tight. Inspect the pressure regulator for any faults. Also, examine the gas shroud on the torch or torch leads for blockages and clean if necessary. Shield the welding spot from air drafts or increase the gas flow rate. Finally, ensure the workpiece is clean, removing any rust, grease, or paint.
