ROLLER CHAIN ADJUSTMENT
The beater drive chain is automatically tensioned with a
spring loaded tensioner. Proper chain tension is 1/4 to 1/2"
of deflection at midspan on the loaded chain strand.
The apron drive chain is automatically tensioned with a
spring loaded tensioner. Proper chain tension is 1/4 to 1/2"
of deflection at midspan on the loaded chain strand.
Side apron drive chain is automatically tensioned with a
spring loaded tensioner. Proper chain tension is 1/4 to 1/2"
of deflection at midspan on the loaded chain strand.
Check beater clutch cable periodically for proper ad-
justment. To do this, move beater clutch lever to full en-
gaged position. If there is any slack in cable, loosen cable
clamp at the rope lever on clutch at front of spreader. See
figure 7. Remove all slack cable so it is tight to the point that
it just begins to pull on the clutch rod on the beater gearbox.
If the gearbox clutch rod begins to move, the cable is too
tight. When correct, tighten the cable clamp. As a final
check, pull on the beater clutch to the fully disengaged posi-
tion. The gearbox clutch rod should be fully extended out.
You should not be able to move it any further by pulling on
the cable.
