The MICOM AUTODOOR EDM-MD Series is an economical automatic sliding door solution designed for easy open and close operation, offering variable function adjustment for single or double door leaves up to 100kg per leaf. Installation and setup are simplified, with door stroke memorized by simply pushing the RESET button once during initial installation or for servicing.
Function Description
The EDM-MD Series is an automatic sliding door operator that provides safe and reliable operation. It incorporates a sensor or switch activation with safety beam threshold safety input, ensuring the doors operate safely. The system supports various functions and parameters, which can be adjusted to suit individual installations through an easily accessible LED visual display found on the EDM-MD Control Box. Connections for sensors and other inputs are located on an independent input terminal on the rail or by adding a MICOM Sensor and Battery Monitoring board (SMB) for EN16005 Compliance.
The system features a comprehensive set of functions for controlling door movement, safety, and operational modes. These include:
- Door Operation: Open High Speed (500mm/s MAX), Open Low Speed, Close High Speed (400mm/s MAX), Close Low Speed, Open Force, Close Force, Open Brake Force, Close Brake Force, Partial Open Width, and Open Delay Time.
- Safety Features: Safety Beams (MUST be installed to ensure threshold safety), obstruction detection, and a sensor/threshold safety system using microwave or infrared detection sensors and safety beam products.
- Operational Modes: The system supports various operational modes, including Closed/Locked, Exit Only, Automatic, and Hold Open. These modes can be selected via a 4-position rotary knob or a push button.
- Emergency Features: An Anti-Panic function ensures doors are closed by hand after battery open. The system also supports an emergency open input and a 24VDC power input (isolated transformer) for continuous operation during power outages.
- Monitoring and Control: The EDM-MD Control Box features an LED display for visual feedback on the system's status and parameters. It includes a RUN/PRG switch for programming, TEST/UP & SET buttons for adjustments, and indicators for power, sensor status, and error codes.

Usage Features
- Easy Installation: The installation process is designed to be straightforward, with the door stroke being memorized by a simple RESET button push.
- Adjustable Parameters: Various parameters such as door speed, force, partial open width, and delay times can be easily adjusted through the control box using the TEST/UP & SET buttons and the LED display.
- Multiple Operation Modes: The system offers flexible operation modes (Closed/Locked, Exit Only, Automatic, Hold Open) to suit different security and access control requirements. These modes can be selected via a rotary knob or push button.
- User-Friendly Interface: The LED display on the control box provides clear visual feedback on the system's status, including power, sensor input, error indications, and DIP switch settings.
- Power On/Off Control: The power switch is located to the right of the motor, fixed to the underside of the base rail, allowing for easy control of the system's power.
- Teaching/Learning Operation: The controller can memorize the door stroke by a teaching or learning stroke. This process involves setting the slide switch to "PROG" and then pressing "UP" & "SET" buttons to initiate the learning sequence.
Maintenance Features
- Clearance and Adjustment: Regular checks are required for floor clearance, hanger roller brackets, and door alignment to ensure smooth and quiet operation. Adjustments can be made to hanger roller brackets, door mounts, and door height for proper clearance.
- Error Indication: The LED display provides error codes (E1: Open error, E2: Closer error, E4: Loose belt, E6: E-lock error) to help diagnose and troubleshoot issues quickly.
- Power Supply Monitoring: The system monitors the power supply, and in case of a malfunction or event affecting stored data, the controller can be recovered by another RESET.
- Protective Measures: Safety beams and obstruction detection features are crucial for preventing injury and damage. Regular checks of these systems are essential.
- Component Accessibility: Key components like the motor gear box, control box, and various sensors are designed for accessibility to facilitate maintenance and repairs.
- Protective Gloves: Protective gloves should be worn when handling metal parts during maintenance to prevent injury.
- Safe Working Area: A safe working area should be maintained by cordon or other temporary boundary to prevent risk of crushing or impact by a falling door panel or other solid object onto a person.
