Overview

The MPM489 Pressure Transmitter, developed by MICROSENSOR, is a precise instrument designed for pressure measurement across various industrial applications. It integrates a 316L isolated diaphragm pressure sensor with a high-performance signal processing circuit within a stainless steel housing. The device undergoes automated computer testing and laser trimming for zero and temperature compensation across a wide range, with its digital circuit converting sensor signals into standard output signals.

Function Description:

The MPM489 is primarily used for measuring pressure in fields such as petroleum, chemical industry, metallurgy, electric power, light industry, cotton production, building materials, hydrogeology, and other economic sectors. Its compact construction and standard signal output ensure convenient and stable operation. The pressure port is a male M20x1.5 with a waterline seal, and electrical connections are available via plug or cable.

Usage Features:

  • Installation:
    • Before installation, ensure the measuring pressure is within the range, the medium is compatible with the construction, and the pressure-leading hole will not be jammed.
    • The transmitter should typically be mounted vertically upwards. A maximum slope angle of 30 degrees from the horizontal is permissible if vertical mounting is not possible. Inverted mounting is not recommended.
    • Direct installation onto the measuring pipe joint is possible. A shut-off valve should be installed between the connector and the pipeline for easier installation and maintenance.
    • Caution: Do not poke the pressure-leading hole with metal wire or hard objects, and avoid pressing the diaphragm with fingers or sharp objects to prevent damage.
  • Electrical Connection:
    • Connections are made via a plug or special cable.
    • Pin Definitions (Socket):
      • Pin 1: +V (2-wire & 3-wire)
      • Pin 2: OV/+OUT (2-wire), GND (3-wire)
      • Pin 3: Null (2-wire), +OUT (3-wire)
    • Cable Definitions:
      • Red: +V (2-wire & 3-wire)
      • Black: OV/+OUT (2-wire), GND (3-wire)
      • White: Null (2-wire), +OUT (3-wire)
    • M12x1 Plug Definitions:
      • Pin 1: +V (2-wire & 3-wire)
      • Pin 2: Null (2-wire), GND (3-wire)
      • Pin 3: OV/+OUT (2-wire), +OUT (3-wire)
    • Cable Connection Note: The tube in the center of the cable must not be blocked or allow water inflow, and it must be connected to the atmosphere to ensure product protection and measurement accuracy.
    • Plug Connection Method:
      • To disconnect, loosen the central bolt on the plug top with a screwdriver and pull the plug out. (Caution: Do not remove the socket from the transmitter).
      • To disconnect the plug core from its housing, remove the central bolt, turn the plug to the bottom, and insert a flat screwdriver into the "Lift" or arrow-marked corner to apply force.
      • To connect the cable, pass it through the cable jack, connect wires to terminals (using 4.5mm~7mm shield cable), push the plug core into the housing until it clicks, and then screw down the cable-fixed nut.
      • Caution: Renew the rectangle-ring to its pre-mounting situation to maintain the protection class when connecting the plug and socket.
  • Intrinsic Safe EX Transmitter Electric Connection:
    • Installation must comply with GB3836.15-2000 and relevant regulations for explosive gas environments.
    • When used in "0" Zone, the power transformer for the safe barrier must comply with GB3836.4-2010.
    • Connect the transmitter to a safe barrier to establish an intrinsic safe ex-proof system.
    • The safe barrier must comply with intrinsic safe ex-proof parameters and possess a Qualified Certificate.
    • Safe barrier and power should be in a safe area; the intrinsic safe version transmitter should be in a dangerous area.
    • Transmitter ex-proof parameters (ExialICT6Ga): U₁=28VDC, I₁=93/115mADC, L₁=0mH, C₁=0.042/0.055μF, P₁=0.65/0.66W.

    • ATEX (3-wire) Safe barrier ex-proof parameters: Uo=26VDC, Io=140mADC, Po=0.66W.
    • The maximum available distributing capacitance (Cp) for the connected cable is Cp = Co – Ci, and inductance (Lp) is Lp = Lo – Li.
  • Explosion Proof Transmitter (ExdIICT6):
    • Must have "ExdIICT6" on the name board.
    • Installation requirements: The cap must be tightened with at least 6 joggles, and the thread must not be damaged.
    • Explosion-proof components are factory-examined; do not scratch joint surfaces or provide your own components if damaged. Order replacements from the factory.
    • Route the cable to a safety area for connection; do not divide the cable core midway.
  • Operation: The transmitter can be operated without adjustment once correctly installed and electrically connected. Signal output stabilizes after 30 minutes of power supply.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning: If the pressure-leading hole is jammed or the diaphragm is dirty, clean them with an impregnant compatible with the transmitter's construction material. Do not use hard objects or brush the diaphragm.
  • Internal Cables: Other cables inside the transmitter are for factory adjustments; do not connect them to protect the device.
  • Protection Level: After electrical connection, ensure the socket nut and cable fastening nut are tightened to maintain the transmitter's protection level.
  • Vent Pipe (for cable-connected gauge pressure sensors): The cable has a vent pipe to connect the gauge pressure sensor's back pressure chamber to the atmosphere. Ensure this tube is not blocked or allows water inflow, and it must be connected to the atmosphere to maintain product protection and measurement accuracy. Failure to do so may damage the transmitter.
  • Warranty: Within one year from delivery, the manufacturer will repair or replace instruments with quality faults due to material or manufacturing defects free of charge. For non-quality malfunctions during user operation, repair services are provided, but material costs and transportation fees are borne by the user.
  • Storage: Store the transmitter in a dry, ventilated room with ambient temperature between -40°C~120°C (or -20°C~85°C for cable type) and relative humidity ≤85%, free from corrosive substances.
