This document describes the Portable EV Charger (Level 2) manufactured by Shanghai Mida EV Power Co., Ltd.

Function Description

The Portable EV Charging Cable is designed for convenient, portable, and plug-and-play electric vehicle charging. It is an independently researched product that adheres to the latest national standards, making it compatible with all EV cars. The charger offers good performance during charging, incorporating multiple electric protections and a direct human-computer interaction interface. The control box is built with an ergonomic surface design, enhancing its durability and strength.

Important Technical Specifications

The device is a Mode 2 EV Charger Cable, with models MIDA-EVSE-PA16S and MIDA-EVSE-PE16S. It is designed for portable, plug-and-play installation.

Output Current: It supports adjustable output currents of 6A, 8A, 10A, 13A, and 16A Max. (Note: UK Max is 13A). Rated Power: The maximum rated power is 3.6kW. Input Voltage AC: It operates within an input voltage range of 110V~250V at 50Hz/60Hz. Waterproof Degree: The charger has an IP67 waterproof rating.

Output Detection Features: The charger includes comprehensive protection mechanisms:

  1. Short circuit protection.
  2. Over and under frequency protection.
  3. Over Current Protection.
  4. Leakage Current Protection (with restart recovery).
  5. Over Temperature Protection.

The charger is available with various AC input plugs, including UK Plug, EU Schuko Plug, and other types, and supports both Type 1 and Type 2 vehicle connectors.

Usage Features

LED Display: The EV Charging Control box features an LED display that provides real-time information and status indicators. The display shows Amps, Volts, kW, Temperature (°C), Time, and kWh. It also indicates the current charging status (Ready, Connected, Charging, Error).

LED Display Status Indicators:

  • Waiting Connection: Green(One) light on, Green (Two) and Green (Three) lights out, Fault (Red) light out.
  • Charging Mode: Green(One), Green (Two), and Green (Three) lights are racing, Fault (Red) light out.
  • Charging Completed: Green(One) light on, Green (Two) light racing, Green (Three) and Fault (Red) lights off.
  • Fault Mode: All Green lights off, Fault (Red) light twinkles.
  • Off Ground: All Green lights off, Fault (Red) light on.

Current Setting: The charger allows users to select the maximum charging current using a current switch button. This adjustment should be made before inserting the charging plug into the car. The device will default to the last current setting used for subsequent charges.

Operating Instructions:

  1. How to start charging:

    • Step 1: Insert the charger plug firmly into a socket-outlet.
    • Step 2: Fully plug the vehicle connector into the vehicle inlet, ensuring the cap is pulled back.
    • Step 3: The device will automatically begin charging, indicated by all green READY/CHARGE and POWER indicators.
    • Step 4: The factory default current is 16A. Users can adjust the required current (up to 16A) by pressing the "CURRENT SETTING" button.
  2. How to stop charging:

    • Step 1: Press the button on the charger and disconnect the vehicle connector from the vehicle inlet.
    • Step 2: Close the protective cap of the vehicle inlet and put the protective cap on the vehicle connector.
    • Step 3: Disconnect the plug from the socket-outlet.
    • Step 4: Pack up the EV charger cable and store it in the bag.

Maintenance Features

Warranty: MIDA Group company ensures that its portable charging lines undergo strict quality inspection. A one-year warranty from the date of purchase is provided for product quality problems arising from correct use. The company will provide quality maintenance.

Warranty Exclusions: The warranty does not cover issues resulting from improper handling, installation, use, or maintenance by the user, negligence, natural disasters, or direct damage that prevents proper use. The warranty also excludes freight costs for returning the product to the factory for maintenance. The warranty is valid only for the original purchaser and is not transferable.

Safety Precautions (CAUTION):

  • Inspection upon Receipt: Check if the device is intact and matches the packing list upon receipt. Contact sales immediately or reject the goods if any abnormalities are found.
  • Power Supply Cable: The power-supply side input cable should be at least 3x6mm². Professional installation of power distribution is suggested.
  • Handling: Do not submerge the control box or charging connector in water. Avoid stepping on, pulling, folding, or knotting the cable.
  • Damage Check: Ensure the charging connector, plug, cable, and control box are free from scratches, rust, cracks, or any other abnormalities.
  • Socket Condition: Do not charge if the socket is damaged, rusted, cracked, or loosely connected. Contact professionals for disposal.
  • Cleaning: Wipe the plug with a clean, dry cloth if it gets dirty or wet.
  • Compatibility: Ensure the power plug and socket are consistent, especially regarding current and voltage, before charging.
  • Current Management: Check the input current and reduce the charging current if necessary to below the input current.
  • Heat Management: Do not place the charging cable near high-temperature objects while it is in operation.
