Messages in the display window
The appliance has an electronic safety system that reports any problems in the
display window. Most faults are easily fixed.
Message Cause + Effect Solution
Fill coff. beans
Ready for use
The coffee bean container is empty.
The appliance is only dispensing hot
water and steam.
Fill the container with coffee beans.
Brewunit block. The brew unit is dirty. The appliance is
blocked.
Clean the brew unit.
Brew unit miss. The brew unit is not seated correctly.
The appliance is only dispensing hot
water and steam.
Remove the brew unit and reposition it.
Descaling The appliance needs to be descaled. Descale the appliance.
Expel air Air has built up in the system. The
appliance is blocked.
– Make sure that the filled water
container is in the appliance.
– Turn the program selector to “On”
with lighting and place a container
under the hot water spout and another
under the steam spout.
– Press the hot water button, turn the
steam selector counterclockwise and
dispense hot water until it flows in
quiet, continuous streams.
– Press the hot water button again.

Waste unit miss. The waste unit is not correctly
positioned or is missing. The
appliance is blocked.
Reposition the waste unit correctly.
Empty wasteunit
Press ENTER
The waste unit is full. Dispensing has
stopped, to prevent coffee grinds from
falling into the appliance.
Empty the waste unit and press ENTER.
Standby. . .
Press ENTER
The appliance is in energy-saving
mode. The lighting is off.
Press ENTER.
Watersystem
fault
There is water in the base of the
appliance.
Call the Miele Technical Service
Department.
Fill water tank The water tank (container) is empty or
missing.
The float switch in the water container
is stuck.
Fill the container with cold, fresh
drinking water and place it in the
appliance.
Empty the water container, rinse out,
refill, and place in the appliance.
