that the fi lter slot can’t be slooded. For this purpose you should bring
in a roller-burnishing (crushed rock) in the range of the fi lter slot, so
that the surrounding- and rainwater can seep away. It would be ideal if
there is a direct connection to the drain in the sump of the fi lter shaft (or
sludge pump, with automatic fl oating switch). It is important to ensure
that the fi lter slot should never be airtight, because this may cause
damage, due to condensation water, on the fi lter pump. The size of the
lter shaft should be selected so that work can be performed on the fi lter
system.
Installation
Assembly of the fi lter system (Illustration 1)
Assemble the fi lter system at the location where the pump fi nally will be
(the subsequent transport there would be too burdensome!). The fi lter
pump consists of the following parts:
1. Pump
2. Valve
3. Seal (O-Ring)
4. Clamping ring
5. Vessel
6. Central pipe
7. Filter screen
8. Drain plug
9. Centralizer (cover for standpipe)
10. Base plate
11. Pressure hose
Filter vessel
1. Insert stand pipe including fi lter screen into boiler. (Illustration 2)
2. Place the stand pipe with the lter screen on the oor of the boiler,
make sure that the stand pipe is located in the middle of the boiler
and that the drain plug is screwed in.
3. Now put the centralizer on the tank opening, while centering the
standpipe. (Illustration 4)
4. Fill in the fi lter quarz sand up to a high of about ¾ of the bowlhight.
(Illustration 4)
5. Then mount the top of the boiler or the valve head and the boiler
seal on the tank top of the lter vessel. Before you do this, it is
neccassary to clean again and wash off any sand or accumulated
debris. The connection of the top of the boiler or the head valve with
the lter vessel is carried out by the clamping ring. The clamping
ring is screwed with the clamping ring screw and the collet nut.
(Illustration 5 & 6)
6. Finally, mount the pump ttings on the valve head. Seal the pump
ttings suffi ciently by using tefl on tape.
7. The pressure gauge (if included) is screwed to the side of the 7-way
valve and sealed. The existing vent plug should be removed rst.
(Illustration 9)
Pump hose connections (Illustration 7)
1. Skimmer pipe: Connection from the skimmer connection to the
front connection on the fi lter pump.
2. Pressure pipe: Connection from the top connection of the fi lter
pump to the connection labelled “RINSE” / “FILTER” on the 7-way
valve.
3. Return pipe: Connection from the connection on the 7-way valve
labelled “RECIRCULATE” to the connection on the inlet nozzle
(pool). Fix all the connections with hose clamps.
4. Backfl ush pipe: Connection “FILTER” / “WASTE” (emptying) into
the channel.
The connections are to be made with special swimming pool hoses
and hose clamps!
Filter system installation instructions
Once the fi lter system has been properly assembled, the sand chamber
lled with sand and the hoses connected as described above, you
may begin with fi ltration. However, we recommend that you clean and
prepare the new sand that is in the sand chamber fi rst. Cleaning the
sand prior to fi ltering your pool will remove most of the dust and tiny
sand particles that may exist in the sand. If you move straight to fi ltering,
these particles will end up in your pool. To clean the sand, please follow
the instructions below:
Do not plug the system in until advised to do so below.
Make certain the pump is not plugged in to a power supply.
Ensure that the valve lever is in the “closed” position.
Before operating the lter system, it is important to ensure that the
lter system is positioned outside the pool and is lower than the pool’s
water level. The hose connections must also be correctly connected
and fastened.
If you haven’t done so already, ll your pool with water. Ensure that
the water level is at least 2,5 – 5 cm above the top of the hose intake
(Skimmer) and return ports in the pool.
Release the shut off valve at the intake port (Skimmer) in the pool. If
you plugged the intake port (Skimmer), remove the plug to allow the
water to fl ow into the intake hose.
With the fi lter-pump system installed in a location level lower than your
pool’s water level water will automatically ow into the pump-fi lter
system.
The lter system is now vented. If applicable, ensure that the lter
pump’s pre-fi lter guard is slightly open until the water runs from the
pre-fi lter container (transparent lid with screw tting on the upper
surface of the fi lter pump).
Allow the fi lter tank to fi ll with water.
Check the lter system and the connection hoses for leaks and resolve,
if necessary. Leakage points may possibly arise due to manufacturing
tolerances, which need to be resolved by wrapping tefl on tape around
the connections before the connection hose is attached.
Follow the backwash process described below.
Backwash Prozess
S Disconnect the Motor/Pump from the Power Source.
Attach backwash hose (not included) to backwash port.
Place the Multi-Port Valve in the “Backwash” position.
Reconnect to power source.
Run fi lter in BACKWASH mode until discharge water is clear.
Disconnect the Motor/Pump from the Power Source.
Place the Multi-Port Valve in the “RINSE” position.
Reconnect to power source.
Allow lter to run for 60 seconds to remove any remaining residue
from pump and valve.
Disconnect the Motor/Pump from the Power Source.
Place the Multi-Port Valve in the “Filtration” position.
Reconnect to power source.
Your fi ltration system is RUNNING and ready for further operation.
Filter operations
Setting Complete water fl ow/function
Filters Function: Vacuum, regular pool fi lter action. This is
the setting the fi lter will be set to most of the time. In
this position, water is directed through the top of the
lter where it compresses and fl attens down the sand.
Contaminants are trapped by the sand as water makes
it way to the bottom strainer, out of the fi lter and back
to the pool.
Rinse Function: Use after backwashing to clean the fi lter
bed. This should always be done immediately after
backwashing, new sand addition or fi lter start-up.
The water is chanelled into the upper part of the fi lter
container in this position, and the valve is rinsed whilst
the water runs off via the waste pipe.
Cirkulation Function: circulate water after chemical treatment.
This position is used during certain pool cleanups and
chemical treatments when you don’t want the water
contaminating the sand. In this position, water is only
directed through the valve back to the pool and does
not fi lter through the sand.
