The SXT Lite5 ac is a comprehensive wireless device designed for efficient network connectivity. It comes as a complete set, featuring a built-in 802.11ac dual-chain wireless device and a dual-polarization antenna. The device includes a single Ethernet connector that supports MDI-X auto-detection, simplifying network integration.
To begin using the SXT Lite5 ac, connect an Ethernet cable to the port located behind the small plastic door. The device accepts 24V Power over Ethernet (PoE) from the provided PoE injector, ensuring a straightforward power setup. The default IP address for configuration from the LAN is 192.168.88.1. The default username is "admin" with no password required, allowing for immediate access to the device's settings.
The SXT Lite5 ac is powered by RouterOS, the operating system for all RouterBOARD routers. For detailed configuration, a comprehensive guide is available online. Since the device does not include a Serial Port connector, initial connection must be established via the Ethernet cable using the MikroTik Winbox utility. Winbox should be used to connect to the default IP address (192.168.88.1) with the username "admin" and no password. If an IP connection is not available, Winbox can also connect to the device's MAC address.
For advanced booting options, such as using MikroTik Netinstall, hold the RESET button during startup until the LED light turns off (located behind the small door). This action will prompt the SXT to search for Netinstall servers, facilitating network-based installation.
The SXT Lite5 ac also features a secondary wireless interface specifically for management purposes. This interface operates on 2GHz 802.11b/g/n and is connected to an internal 1.5dBi antenna, providing low-range connectivity. By default, this management interface is disabled. Users need to connect to the device and enable this second WLAN interface, configuring it according to their specific requirements.
Mounting the SXT Lite5 ac is designed for ease and security. With the clip pointed forward, slide the mounting bracket into the rail on the bottom of the case until it clicks into place. The device comes bundled with a hose clamp; guide the clamp through the opening in the bracket and around the pole where it will be mounted. Tighten the hose clamp screw once alignment is complete. For additional security against accidental bracket movement, two screw holes are provided.
The SXT device features a sliding door that conceals the Ethernet port and the reset jumpers. This door can be secured shut with a screw provided in the screw hole.
The Reset button, located behind the sliding door, offers multiple functions for device maintenance and configuration. Holding this button during boot time until the LED light starts flashing (approximately 5 seconds) will reset the RouterOS configuration. If the button is held for an additional 5 seconds (totaling 10 seconds), the LED will turn solid, indicating that the device is now in CAP management mode, ready to be controlled by CAPsMAN. Holding the button for yet another 5 seconds (totaling 15 seconds) until the LED turns off will cause the RouterBOARD to search for Netinstall servers, useful for network-based reinstallation.
The SXT Lite5 ac operates with MikroTik RouterOS, with current testing confirming compatibility starting from version v6.29.
MikroTik provides a warranty for all RouterBOARD series equipment for twelve months from the shipping date, covering defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and service. This warranty does not cover damage caused by mechanical, electrical, or other accidental or intended damages resulting from improper use, or due to natural events like wind, rain, fire, or other acts of nature.
For returning failed units, users must follow the Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) procedure. If the product was purchased from a MikroTik Reseller, contact the Reseller company for warranty and repair issues. The instructions provided apply specifically if the equipment was purchased directly from MikroTik in Latvia. MikroTik generally does not offer repairs for products not covered by warranty, though exceptions can be made for specific high-end models as a paid service. Out-of-warranty devices or those not covered by warranty that are sent to MikroTik will be returned to the sender at their cost. If the customer does not arrange for the return of such rejected devices within 12 months of arrival, MikroTik reserves the right to discard them. Detailed RMA instructions are available on the MikroTik webpage.
