What size is the M18FCHS-0 chain, and can I buy a new one?
The chain is 16” and available as an accessory with a 3 month warranty from an Authorised Milwaukee
retail partner.
Do I have to use oil with the chainsaw and if so, what type?
Yes, oil is required to keep the saw chain and guide bar properly lubricated to ensure optimum
performance while cutting. Failure to oil the chain will cause damage to the bar and chain. It is
recommended to use a vegetable-based chain oil when pruning trees. Mineral oil may harm trees. Never
use waste oil automotive oil, or very thick oils. These could cause damage to the chainsaw.
When does the oil reservoir need to be refilled?
Milwaukee highly recommends keeping the oil reservoir more than ¼ full to ensure sufficient oil is
available for the job. Check oil level frequently and fill the oil reservoir after each full battery discharge.

the oil reservoir correctly.
User Manual Instructions: Filling the Oil Reservoir
1. Remove the battery pack.
2. Place the saw on a flat, firm surface, blade side down.
3. Unscrew the oil cap.
4. Carefully fill reservoir with chain oil.
5. Tighten oil cap securely.
6. Repeat as needed during use.
7. Periodically check that the saw chain is lubricating correctly: see next question for instructions.
How do I know that the saw chain is lubricating correctly?
After filling the oil reservoir, you should run the chainsaw for approximately 30 seconds with the tip of
the guide bar pointing to a light coloured surface. A small amount of oil should be dispersed from the
end of the bar, with an oil line visible on the light surface. If not, remove and clean the guide bar
thoroughly. Ensure the guide bar sprocket (at the tip) rotates freely.
Why is my chainsaw “leaking” oil?
All chainsaws disperse oil whenever they are running, between the bar and the chain. Majority of the oil
is absorbed by the timber being cut or sprayed from the saw. Excess oil will accumulate in the chain, the
