Important Precautions

• Brakeuidishighlycorrosive.Wearglovesand
approvedsafetygogglesatalltimes,andpre-
ventcontactoftheuidwithpaintedsurfaces.
• Consultandfollowthevehiclemanufacturer’s
recommendedprocedureswhenservicingany
hydraulicsystem.
• Donotusethisunitwithammableliquidsor
withuidsattemperaturesabove175°Fahren-
heit(80°Celsius).
• Properlydisposeofolduids,andreplenishhy-
draulicsystemswithnewbrakeuidfromfreshly
openedcontainers.
• Donotattempttopressurizethebleeder/evacu-
ator.Itisdesignedforvacuumuseonly.
• Thisunitisequippedwithanautomaticshut-off
devicethatwillpreventuidfromenteringthe
compressedairstreamandejectingthroughthe
exhaust.However,iftheunitiscontinuouslyop-
eratedwhenthereservoirisfull,residualpres-
surewillallowthereservoirtocompletelyllwith
uid,creatingthepotentialforspillagewhenthe
lidisremoved.Topreventthissituation,empty
orturntheunitoffpriortollingthereservoir
completelyfull.
• ThescrewsincludedinBaseKit822701are
providedtosecurethebasetoaworksurface.
Donotusethescrewstoattachthebasetothe
reservoir.
Principal of Operation
Thisunitisdesignedforuseasavacuumbrakeor
clutchbleeder,oruidevacuator.Itutilizescom-
pressedairbetween60psi(4.1bar)and150psi
(10.3bar),andaventurisystem,tobuildvacuum
inthereservoir.Byattachingtheproperaccessory
tothecouplerlocatedonthetopoftheunit,the
vacuumcanbeusedtodrainbrakeuidfromahy-
draulicsystemsuchasthebrakeorclutchsystems
onanautomobile.Itcanalsobeusedtoevacu-
ateavarietyofuidsfromreservoirsincludingthe
mastercylinderorthoseforpowersteeringuidor
enginecoolant.
Anautomaticmastercylinderrellkitisincluded
withthisunit.Itisconvenientlydesignedforuse
withastandardbottleofbrakeuid,tomaintainan
adequateuidlevelinthemastercylinderwhilethe
hydraulicsystemisbled.Instructionsareincluded
withthekitforitsuse.
Instructions for Bleeding Brakes
IMPORTANT: Thisunitisdesignedforservicinga
varietyofvehiclesinasafe,convenientmanner.
However,optionssuchasloadsensorsoranti-
lockbrakes,availableonmanyautomobiles,may
requireadditionalstepsorequipmenttoperforma
properservicejob.Theproceduresbelowareto
serveasguidelinesfortheuseofthisequipment,
inadditiontotheseguidelines,alwaysfollowthe
manufacturer’srecommendedprocedureswhen
servicingeachuniquevehicle.
Removing old uid from the brake mas-
ter cylinder
1.Properlyparkthevehicleonlevelgroundand
turntheengineoff.
2.Cleantheexteriorofthemastercylinderand
mastercylindercaptopreventdirtfromentering
themastercylinderwhenthecapisremoved.
3.Removethecapfromthemastercylinderreser-
voir.
4.Connectclean,regulated(60psi(4.1bar)to150
psi(10.3bar))compressedairtothemalequick
disconnectnippleattachedtotheswivelair
inlet,locatedononeendofthevacuumbleeder
handle.
5.Connecttheappropriateendoftheevactube
assemblytothefemalequickdisconnectcou-
plerlocatedontopofthevacuumbleeder.
6.Inserttheotherendoftheevactubeassembly
intothemastercylinderuidreservoir,andpush
thevacuumbleederthrottleforwardtostartthe
vacuum(allowafewsecondsforvacuumto
buildinthebleederreservoirbeforesuctionoc-
curs).Whileevacuatingtheolduid,stiritupto
breaklooseandremoveanysludgethathasac-
cumulatedonthebottomandwallsofthemaster
cylinder.
7.Oncealluidisremoved,turnoffthebleeder
andrellthemastercylinderwithnewmanufac-
turer’srecommendedbrakeuid.
