Vacuum bleed brake lines and wheel
brake cylinders
Note:Priortobleeding,ensurethemastercylinder
isfullofnewmanufacture’srecommendedbrake
uid.Anautomaticmastercylinderrellkitis
includedwiththevacuumbleedertomaintainthe
levelofnewuidinthemastercylinderduringthe
brakebleedingprocess.Followtheinstructionsin-
cludedwiththekittopreventairfrombeingsucked
intothemastercylinderpistons,brakelines,and
wheelcylinderswhilebleedingthebrakes.Addi-
tionalautomaticrellkitsareavailablefromMity-
vac.
1.Properlypositionthevehicleforsafeconvenient
accesstothebrakebleedscrewlocatedon
eachwheelbrakecylinder.
2.Makesurethatallbleedscrewsareclean.
3.Connectclean,regulated(60psi(4.1bar)to
150psi(10.3))compressedairtothemalequick
disconnectnippleattachedtotheswivelair
inlet,locatedononeendofthevacuumbleeder
handle.
4.Connecttheappropriateendofthebleedtube
assemblytothefemalequickdisconnectcou-
plerlocatedontopofthevacuumbleeder.
Note: Consultthevehiclemanufacturer’sguide-
linesfortheproperwheelbleedingsequence
andvacuumbleedingprocedure.
5.Slipthebleedscrewadapterlocatedontheop-
positeendofthebleedtubeassembly,overthe
nippleofthebleedscrew.
6.Operatethevacuumbleederbypushingthe
throttleforward(allowafewsecondsforvacu-
umtobuildinthebleederreservoirbeforesuc-
tionoccurs),andwiththeappropriatewrench,
loosen/openthebleedscrewslightly,untiluid
isvisiblydrainingthroughthebleedhoseand
intothereservoir.
Note:Duringthebleedingprocess,asbrake
uidisbeingvacuumedthroughthebleed
screw,airwillalsobesuckedintothebleedtube
fromaroundthebleedscrewthreads.Thiscan
givethemisconceptionthatairisbleedingfrom
thelines,howeveritisnormalanddoesnot
indicateamalfunction.Topreventorreducethis
introductionofair,coatthebleedscrewthreads
withsilicongreasepriortobleeding.
7.Keepthebleedscrewopenuntilnewuidis
visiblyowingthroughthebleedtube(typically
20to30seconds).
8.Closethebleedscrewrmly,withoutovertight-
ening,priortoremovingthebleedscrewadapter
orshuttingoffthebleeder.
Note:Itisimportanttoensurethatthebleed
screwadapterremainsconnectedtothebleed
screw,andthebleederisstillpullingavacuum
whilethebleedscrewisclosed.Thisprevents
airfrombeingsuckedbackintothewheelcylin-
derfromaroundthebleedscrewthreads,before
thebleedscrewistightenedandsealed.
Note:Ifanautomaticrellersuchastheone
providedwiththisunit,isnotused,besureto
periodicallycheckthelevelandtopoffthebrake
uidinthemastercylinder.
Instructions for bleeding hydraulic
clutch system
IMPORTANT: Thisunitisdesignedforservicinga
varietyofvehiclesinasafe,convenientmanner.
However,hydraulicclutchsystemsvarybetween
vehicles,indesign,incomponents,andeventhe
locationanddesignofthebleedscrew.Dueto
thesedifferences,thefollowingproceduresareto
serveonlyasaguidelinefortheuseofthisequip-
ment.Inadditiontotheseguidelines,alwaysfollow
themanufacturer’srecommendedprocedures
whenservicingeachuniquevehicle.
Removing old uid from the clutch mas-
ter cylinder
1.Properlyparkthevehicleonlevelgroundand
turntheengineoff.
2.Cleantheexteriorofthemastercylinderand
mastercylindercaptopreventdirtfromentering
themastercylinderwhenthecapisremoved.
3.Removethecapfromthemastercylinderreser-
voir.
