The Mockingbird Single Stroller is a versatile and user-friendly device designed to transport infants and toddlers safely and comfortably. It features a robust frame, a convertible seat, and various accessories to adapt to different stages of a child's growth and diverse environmental conditions.
Function Description
The primary function of the Mockingbird Single Stroller is to provide a secure and convenient means of transportation for children. It is designed to be easily assembled, maneuvered, and maintained, offering a seamless experience for parents. The stroller can accommodate infants from birth (with appropriate accessories) up to toddlers weighing 50 lbs or measuring 42 inches (107 cm) in height. It supports both front-facing and rear-facing seat configurations, allowing children to face away from or towards the parent, respectively. The stroller also features a storage basket for carrying essentials and can be expanded with additional accessories for multiples or extra storage.
Usage Features
Assembly and Setup:
The stroller's initial setup involves unpacking and attaching several key components.
- Opening the Frame: The frame is opened by lifting a latch on the right side and then pulling up on the handlebar with both hands until it clicks into a fully opened and locked position.
- Attaching the Wheels:
- Front Wheels: Push the front wheel post into the wheel housing until it clicks. To remove, press a metal button on the back of the housing.
- Rear Wheels: Push the rear wheel post into the wheel housing. To remove, lift white levers on the back of the housing. It's important to ensure the stroller is in a fully open position before attaching the front wheels.
- Attaching the Stroller Seat: The seat is placed into the right and left joints until it clicks into a fully locked position. White buttons on both sides of the frame allow for easy removal. The seat must be front-facing to fold the stroller.
- Attaching the Canopy: The canopy is placed over the recline latch on the stroller seat, and its locks slide into the canopy housings until they click. Elastic loops on the canopy are then secured onto hooks on the seat frame.
- Attaching the Child Bar: Pins on the ends of the child bar are inserted into the housing on the left/right side of the seat frame until it clicks. White buttons below either side of the child bar allow for removal.
Maneuvering:
The stroller offers features for easy control and navigation.
- One-Touch Rear Brake: A brake lever between the rear wheels is pressed downward to engage the brake, preventing the stroller from rolling. Light downward pressure on the top section of the lever rotates it forward to release. The brake should always be locked before folding the stroller.
- Locking the Front Wheels: A swivel lock on the front wheels prevents them from rotating left and right, providing a smoother ride on uneven surfaces like cobblestones or snow. To lock, press downward on a white lever on the front wheel housing until it clicks. To unlock, press upward until it clicks.
- Adjusting the Handlebar: White buttons on both sides of the handlebar are pressed and held to rotate the handlebar upward or downward into one of six positions, accommodating various parent heights. The handle clicks into a locked position.
- Adjusting the Footrest: White buttons on both sides of the footrest are pressed and held to rotate the footrest upward or downward. The footrest is designed to rotate easily upward with one hand but remain stable when a child's feet are resting on it.
Folding the Stroller:
The Mockingbird Single Stroller features a convenient one-hand fold mechanism.
- Preparation: Engage the brake, close the canopy, and position the stroller seat to an upright, parent-facing position. If the seat is facing the parent, it must be reversed to front-facing before folding.
- Folding Action: Slide the unlock tab with your thumb to the farthest left position and hold. While holding the tab, squeeze the front button on the handlebar inward until the stroller begins to fold, then push downward on the handle. As it folds, release the handlebar and grab the child bar, pulling it towards your body to complete the fold. The stroller will stand independently with the handlebar resting on the ground, and a side latch will click. For a more compact fold, adjust the footrest to a 90-degree angle after folding. The child bar can be removed for an even more compact fold, and the seat can be removed and stored separately if needed.
Securing the Child:
The stroller features a 5-point harness system for child safety.
- Adjusting Shoulder Straps: Open the shoulder pads, remove them from the straps, adjust the plastic stays up or down to match the child's size, and re-attach the pads. The straps are preset to the lowest position and should be adjusted upward as the child grows.
- Placing the Child: Position the crotch belt between the child's legs, pull shoulder straps over their arms, and fasten both waist belts to the buckle on each side of the crotch belt until they click. Ensure the brake is engaged before placing the child.
- Tightening Straps: Feed the bottom end of the shoulder or waist strap through the plastic stay to form a loop and adjust the length. Pull down on the ends of the shoulder straps to automatically adjust height and ensure a snug fit. For additional room, the crotch belt can be loosened to maximum length, and the crotch pad can be removed.
Growing with the Baby (Age 0-6 months):
For infants who cannot support their head and neck, specific accessories are recommended.
- Infant Seat Insert: This insert adapts the stroller seat for extra security and support. With the seat fully reclined, it creates a flatter position with head and neck support.
- Mockingbird Bassinet: This attaches directly to the stroller frame, offering a lie-flat position with a mattress pad and extendable sunshade for comfort.
- Car Seat Adapter: This adapter makes the stroller compatible with most commonly used infant car seats, allowing for easy transitions from car to stroller.
For Toddlers (Up to 42" or 50 pounds):
As children grow, adjustments can be made for comfort. Shoulder straps can be loosened, and the footrest can be lowered for more legroom. The seat can also be used facing away from the parent so the child can see the world.
For Multiples:
The Mockingbird Single Stroller can be expanded with a Riding Board to accommodate a growing family, allowing a toddler to sit or stand comfortably while strolling.
Comfort Features:
- Reclining the Seat: A recline latch on the top center of the seat allows for easy adjustment. Lift the latch and rotate the seat downward to recline, or upward to return to an upright position.
- Peek-a-Boo Window: Pull upward on the window flap until it is fully open. Magnets on the window and canopy front can keep it ajar.
- Extendable Canopy: Unzip the zipper on the back of the canopy and pull it forward for full extension. For extra coverage, pull forward on the visor panel located inside the canopy. Tuck the visor back in when finished.
- Open the Vent: Extend the canopy and pull upward on the vent flap for a fully opened position, providing ventilation during warm weather.
