These instructions are intended for users with-
out any specific technical knowledge. Please
read the instructions carefully prior to operation
and keep them for later reference.
1 Applications
In combination with one or multiple receivers ATS-
42R, the transmitter ATS-42T provides a mobile wire-
less system for transmitting spoken language, e. g.
for guided tours, lectures in different languages or
wireless command transmission. For wireless trans-
mission, 40 channels are available in the frequency
range 863 865 MHz; up to 12 of these channels
may be used at the same time without mutual in-
terference. The transmission range depends on local
conditions and may reach 50 m as a maximum.
2 Important Notes
The units correspond to all relevant directives of the
EU and are therefore marked with .
The units are suitable for indoor use only. Protect
them against dripping water and splash water,
high air humidity and heat (admissible ambient
temperature: 0 – 40 °C).
For cleaning only use a dry, soft cloth; never use
water or chemicals.
No guarantee claims for the units and no liability
for any resulting personal damage or material dam-
age will be accepted if the units are used for other
purposes than originally intended, if they are not
correctly connected or operated, or if they are not
repaired in an expert way.
If the units are to be put out of operation
definitively, take them to a local recycling
plant for a disposal which is not harmful to
the environment.
2.1 Conformity and approval
Herewith, MONACOR INTERNATIONAL declare that
the units ATS-42R and ATS-42T comply with the di-
rective 2014 / 53 / EU. The EU declarations of conform-
ity are available on the Internet:
www.monacor.com
The units are generally approved for operation in EU
and EFTA countries; they are licence-free and require
no registration.
3 Before Operation
3.1 Inserting / Replacing the batteries
To insert or replace the batteries, remove the cover
of the battery compartment on the rear side of the
unit. Insert two batteries of size AA as indicated in
the compartment, then replace the cover. If the unit
is not in use for a longer period of time, remove the
batteries to prevent damage to the unit due to bat-
tery leakage.
Never put discharged batteries / defective
rechargeable batteries in the household
waste. To protect the environment, always
take them to a special waste disposal, e. g.
collection container at your retailer.
3.2 Recharging the batteries
Instead of batteries, rechargeable NiMH batteries
can be used for the transmitter and the receiver. To
recharge the batteries, the charging stations TXA-
12C, TXA-36C and TXA-800PS are available. Put
the receiver and the transmitter into these charging
stations, including the batteries inserted.
CAUTION! If you use non-rechargeable batteries for
the units, never put them in the charging station. If
you try to recharge non-rechargeable batteries, they
may leak or even explode.
3.3 Connecting the microphone and the earphone
1) Connect the microphone provided to the jack (3)
of the transmitter (grey housing) and use the clip
to fasten it to your clothes (e. g. tie, lapel).
2) Connect the earphone provided to the jack (3)
of the receiver (black housing) and attach it to your
ear.
4 Operation
1) First switch on the receiver only: Keep the button
(7) pressed until the display (5) shows “On”.
2) Press the button or  (6) to set a free transmis-
sion channel on the receiver.
Note: Five seconds after switching on and five seconds
after pressing a button, the buttons will be locked auto-
matically: The symbol appears on the display. To
unlock, keep both buttons pressed until the symbol
disappears.
The LED RX (2) must not light up. If it lights up,
interference or signals from other transmitters are
received. In this case, use a different channel.
3) Switch on the transmitter; the LED TX (2) lights up.
Set the transmitter to the transmission channel of
the receiver. Once a signal is received, the LED RX
will light up on the receiver.
Note: If no signal is received for 20 minutes (in this
case, the LED RX will not light up), the receiver will be
switched off automatically to save the batteries.
4) Use the control (4) on the receiver to set the
desired volume for the earphone and the control
on the transmitter to set the volume for the
microphone so that the microphone signal is nei-
ther distorted (in this case reduce the volume) nor
noisy (in this case increase the volume).
Caution! Never adjust the earphone to a very high
volume. Permanent high volumes may damage
your hearing!
5) If several ATS-42 systems are used at the same
time for transmitting different kinds of information
or different languages, set a different transmission
channel for each separate system. You will be able
to make twelve voice transmissions at the same
time if you set the following channels:
1, 2, 13, 17, 19, 20, 21, 22, 24, 28, 39, 40.
6) To switch off the units, keep the button of each
unit pressed until the display shows “OF”.
