bleshooting.
79-50-00 - OIL SYSTEM TROUBLESHOOTING
Troubleshooting chart is provided as a guide. Review probable causes, compare other troubleshooting charts for
inter- related symptoms. Items are presented in sequence of complexity, not necessarily in order of probability. Refer
to Garmin System Maintenance Manual for additional system description, service and troubleshooting instructions.
TROUBLE PROBABLE CAUSE REMEDY
High Oil Temperature Indication. Low oil supply. Replenish oil supply.
Oil Cooler air passages
clogged.
Clean thoroughly.
Oil Cooler core plugged. Remove oil cooler an flush thor-
oughly.
Thermostat damaged or held open
by solid matter.
Remove, clean valve and seat. If
still inoperative, replace.
Oil viscosity too high. Drain and refill with correct sea-
sonal weight oil. (See Chapter 5).
Prolonged ground operation. Limit ground operation to a mini-
mum.
Malfunctioning gauge or bulb unit. Check wiring. Check bulb unit.
Check gauge. Replace malfunc-
tioning parts.
Low oil pressure Indication. Low oil supply. Oil viscosity too
low.
Replenish. Drain and refill with cor-
rect seasonal weight oil.
Foam in oil due to presence of al-
kaline solids in system.
Drain and refill with fresh oil. Flush
oil cooler.
Malfunctioning pressure pump. Replace oil pump.
Malfunctioning pressure display. Refer to Garmin G1000 service lit-
erature for troubleshooting. Clean
plumbing.
Weak or broken oil pressure relief
valve spring.
Replace spring. Adjust pressure to
30- 60 PSI by adjusting screw.
