Overview

This document is a Quick Start Guide for the Motorola HK255-S Bluetooth headset, also identified by Product ID: HK255-S and FCC ID: 2ARRB-HK255. It provides essential information for setting up, using, and maintaining the device, along with warranty and regulatory details.

Device Description and Features:

The Motorola HK255-S is a Bluetooth headset designed for wireless audio communication. It features a power switch, a micro USB port for charging, a call button, and a status light. For comfortable wear, it includes an ear cushion and an earhook. The headset also has a volume control that can be pressed in to adjust the audio level.

Key Usage Features:

  • Power Management: The device has a clear "OFF" and "ON" position for its power switch. It is crucial to fully charge the headset before its first use. The manual explicitly states that any attempt to remove or replace the battery will damage the headset, indicating an integrated, non-user-replaceable battery.
  • Bluetooth Connectivity:
    • Initial Pairing: To connect, users must first turn on Bluetooth on their mobile device. Then, turn on the headset (ensuring it's charged). The status light will flash blue twice, and a voice prompt will announce "Ready to pair." The status light will then flash blue rapidly, indicating it's in pairing mode. Users will need to enter a passcode, typically "0000" if prompted, to complete the pairing process. A voice prompt will confirm "pairing complete."
    • Multi-device Connection (Multipoint Technology): The HK255-S supports connecting to two devices simultaneously. To connect a second device, the user must first turn off Bluetooth on the previously paired device and restart the headset's power. Then, follow the standard pairing procedure ("Connect & go") for the second device. Once both devices are paired, the headset can connect to either or both, with normal headset features working across both connections.
  • Button Operations:
    • Answering a Call: Press the Call button.
    • Rejecting a Call: Press and hold the Call button until a tone is heard.
    • Making a Voice Dial Call: Press the Call button until a tone is heard.
    • Redialing Last Call: Press and hold the Call button until a tone is heard.
    • Muting/Unmuting: Press and hold the Volume button.
    • Ending a Call: Press the Call button.

Status Light Indicators:

The status light provides visual cues about the headset's operational state and battery level:

  • Rapid red flashes: Indicates battery low.
  • Steady red: Indicates charging - low battery level.
  • Steady purple: Indicates charging - mid battery level.
  • Steady blue: Indicates charging - battery full.
  • Blue flash twice (during pairing): Indicates headset is on and ready to pair.
  • Blue flash rapidly (during pairing): Indicates headset is in pairing mode.

Important Notes and Warnings:

  • Battery: The battery is integrated and not user-replaceable. Attempting to remove or replace it will damage the headset.
  • Phone/Network Dependency: Some features of the headset are dependent on the phone or network being used.
  • Driving Safety: The manual includes a safety warning advising users that using a mobile device or accessory while driving may cause distraction and could be illegal. It emphasizes obeying laws and driving safely.
