      If the MTD Paper Shredder's engine won't start, several factors could be at play. First, ensure the spark plug wire is securely connected. Next, check that the fuel tank isn't empty or filled with stale fuel; if so, replenish it with fresh gasoline. Confirm that the throttle control lever is in the correct starting position (FAST) and the choke is in the CHOKE position (if equipped). Also, the engine may need priming. A blocked fuel line or a faulty spark plug can also prevent starting; try cleaning the fuel line or cleaning, adjusting the gap, or replacing the spark plug.

If the unit is running on CHOKE, move the choke lever to the OFF position. A blocked fuel line or stale fuel could also be the culprit; clean the fuel line and refill the tank with fresh gasoline (use within 30 days or with a fuel stabilizer). Additionally, water or dirt in the fuel system can cause issues, so drain the tank and refill with fresh fuel. Finally, a dirty air cleaner can lead to erratic engine performance, so clean or replace it.

Also, ensure the engine is running at full throttle, as low engine RPM can prevent discharge.
